Set in the hills surrounded by lush gardens and pine forest, this villa in Montpellier overlooks beautiful views of the Mediterranean countryside and the famous Pic Saint Loup mountain. Located on the outskirts of the city, the property is a quiet and stylish refuge.

Composed of a series of cubist forms and geometric shapes, the modernist structure is built over two floors and nestled into a sloping hillside. The main living area is spacious and sleek with a double-sided fireplace that divides two sitting areas and walls of glass overlooking the countryside. The adjacent dining area flows into a sleek and almost futuristic open kitchen that opens out onto the poolside terrace and lounge.

The master bedroom is a private and airy space with a unique open bathroom and large bay windows overlooking the gardens. A few steps down are two double en-suite bedrooms that open directly onto the gardens, and further down is a large playroom and library with an additional double bedroom and open bathroom. There is an extra media room and lounge below.

The large lot is lush and private, with landscaped gardens that are incorporated into the architectural design.

Don't miss the medieval center or Ecusson, where a network of narrow alleyways, elegant mansions and stately commercial buildings makes for an ideal walking tour of the pedestrian-only Rue de la Loge, where you can peruse the antiques and craft shops and stroll the nearby port.

As home to the 13th-century Université de Montpellier, the town has a vibrant and contemporary youth culture and a mix of multicultural influences from North Africa and around the world. The Sète Halle indoor market is the spot for local delicacies and the beaches of La Grande Motte, Gruisan, and the great Espiguette "wild" beach are a short drive away.
