An Atmospheric Townhouse on Elba Island
Situated within the original medieval walls that used to surround the center of the village, the interiors of this unique townhouse feature original hand-painted frescoes from the early 19th century, colorful majolica tiles, and rustic oak timber ceilings that lend an ambiance of history.
Located above the coast not far from the most famous beaches of the island including Cavoli Fetovaia and Marina di Campo, it's also very close to the slopes of the Mount Perone natural parkland and the best of the natural beauty the island has to offer.
Entering directly from the main piazza, this vacation home rental in Tuscany is situated in the heart of Sant'Ilario village. Fully furnished with all modern comforts and colorful design accents, the small apartment includes three double bedrooms and two bathrooms in majolica tiles, a bright living room, and a small kitchen well equipped with high-end appliances.
Overlooking the sea and far from the traffic and the noise of tourism, the location is ideal for people who want to enjoy the flavor of living in an authentic medieval village, surrounded by nature and Mediterranean landscapes.
ELBA
Famous as the island of exile following Napoleon's downfall, Elba is more than one footnote in history (although the two residences where he lived in Portoferraio and San Martino are big draws).
The largest in the Tuscan archipelago, it's situated between the Tyrrhennian and Ligurian seas just a short ferry ride from the coastal town of Piombino.
Surrounded by crystal clear turquoise waters with protected coral reefs, rugged green interiors including the highest peak of Monte Capanne, and breathtaking landscapes, it's a natural paradise.
The island's rich cultural history dates back to Etruscan times with many majestic remnants and Roman fortifications remaining with contributions from the famous Medici's.
The main port town of Portoferraio is one of the oldest in the region and is the main entry point but there are charming villages along the coasts including Bagnaia, Marciana and Porto Azzurro where the tight winding streets are perfect for exploring on foot.
During the summer months, you can zip over to neighboring Corsica, Capraia and Piana islands for day trips.

Marvelous house with many beautiful details and unique pieces. Everything looks like it has been refurbished, chosen and cared for with much love. The house is in the village square next to the church in Sant Illario. Magical atmosphere. Quiet and amidst locals. The charming mountain village is s short drive from secluded beaches- although it was mid of August we always found many quiet spots to swim; especially thanks to Roberto (host) and his insight advice. Also great restaurant within a short distance/drive. We completely fell in love with this house, the square, the village and surroundings. Unfortunately we had not enough time- we definitely like to come back soon to spend more time… Roberto was super helpful and communication was excellent and very easygoing. Also the lady who was our contact person in Sant Illario was wonderful and always very helpful. Totally recommended if you are looking for a special place and off the beaten track. We were very very happy there.
truly a hidden gem that we had the pleasure of discovering. Tucked away from the masses, this charming apartment provided a delightful stay for our family of four. Despite its secluded location, we found that everything on Elba was easily accessible, making it convenient for exploration and adventure. What impressed us most about La Piazzetta was its simplicity and comfort. This small, yet cozy apartment provided all the necessary amenities for a pleasant stay. The well-designed space was tastefully decorated, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere that instantly made us feel at home. Elba's nearby untouched natural beauty surrounded us, offering stunning landscapes and inviting trails for picturesque walks. We experienced warm hospitality and attentiveness of the hosts. We highly recommend this hidden gem to anyone seeking a peaceful and comfortable stay on Elba.
Piazetta San Illario sits on a quiet square, where guests live amidst a community of friendly locals. While Elba’s many beaches sit a short drive away, the village feels a world apart - in a very good way. It’s peaceful and slow. The home is comfortable, with unique and beautiful design elements. The kitchen is small, but well equipped. We cooked there for many dinners over the course of a week’s stay. Elba itself is a wonderful destination. The mountains are stunning and the Mediterranean waters are crystal clear.
The house is placed in a beautiful and quite village at the top of the island. It is comfortable and as nice as images shows, plenty of details made us feel at home. there are many beaches no longer than 15 minutes driving but discovering calas all around Elba island is a must. There are plenty, as well as cities and villages that deserve a walk. Our host was available everytime and give us many useful tips that demonstrated so good taste for food and leisure as he did renovating his house.
It's a charming place, full of conforts and very relaxing. So nice to stay on the Piazzetta joining the sant'Ilario life. We'll be back again very soon!
Exceptionally beautiful home, in a quite medieval town on the hills of Isola d'Elba, away from the crowds of the coasts, yet only 15/20 min away (by car or motorbike) to some fascinating shores. For a different kind of vacation on an island which has much more to offer than beach resorts, give this townhouse a try; we have loved it
