This vacation home for rent in Normandy located in the heart of the charming fishing port of Port-en-Bessin is just steps from the sea, and is an ideal little hideaway from which to explore the coastal areas.

Occupying the top floor in the eaves of an old stone house, this all in one loft is an airy and cheerful space that holds onto its interesting historic features but with a chic and simple update. With the sleeping space at one end and the well-equipped kitchen at the other, the apartment is designed to utilize the space to maximum effect.

The palette of white, pale gray and taupe with striking black tile and accents and a simple selection of vintage items and decor lend it a timeless and welcoming vibe.

AROUND

Port-en-Bessin has plenty to offer guests in the village and beyond. Walks along the sand, journeys by boat, buying produce from local fishermen or at auction, hiking trails, bike rentals… There’s also a 36-hole golf course and a shipwreck museum nearby. Activities within easy reach include farm visits, swimming (in a local pool), horse-riding, tennis and tree climbing, as well as trawling through flea markets and antique shops. The Sunday market is the place for all of the freshest local items.

Around the port and within 10km are windswept, sandy beaches, the D-Day beaches and American cemetery at Omaha Beach and the British cemetery at Bayeux, as well as Bayeux Cathedral and Tapestry, and numerous chateaux and farms. For those happy to drive over an hour, there are plenty of other interesting destinations including the beautiful Mont St Michel.
