Immerse yourself into the seaside village of Port-en-Bessin in this lovely vacation home rental in Normandy. We like the charming vintage-nautical theme that complements the classic building’s original character and the sounds of the sea and village life just outside your window.

This vacation home for rent in Normandy located in the heart of the charming fishing port of Port-en-Bessin is just steps from the sea, and is an ideal hideaway from which to explore the coastal areas.

Occupying the second floor of a traditional stone house, the apartment is luminous and full of natural light. The early 20th century building retains all of it’s classic design features with herringbone parquet floors, decorative moulding and fixtures and a soothing new palette of colors that mimic the sea. An airy and cheerful space, the south facing orientation allows for lots of natural light and views over the town square.

The living room shares an open plan space with the eat-in kitchen and includes a daybed for one guest. The small double bedroom is off to one side with a fully updated bath.

With a charming selection of vintage items, French antiques and the sailor themed decor, the apartment is both fun and stylish.

AROUND

Port-en-Bessin has plenty to offer guests in the village and beyond. Walks along the sand, journeys by boat, buying produce from local fishermen or at auction, hiking trails, bike rentals… There’s also a 36-hole golf course and a shipwreck museum nearby. Activities within easy reach include farm visits, swimming (in a local pool), horse-riding, tennis and tree climbing, as well as trawling through flea markets and antique shops. The Sunday market is the place for all of the freshest local items.

Slightly farther afield are windswept, sandy beaches, the D-Day beaches and American cemetery at Omaha Beach and the British cemetery at Bayeux, as well as Bayeux Cathedral and Tapestry, and numerous chateaux and farms. For those happy to drive over an hour there are plenty of other interesting destinations including the beautiful Mont St Michel.
