A Timeless Garden Retreat Surrounded by Vineyards
Tucked between sea, orchards and vineyards, this 100-year-old mansion redesigned by Vera Sanchez Guasch and Paulina Calcagno offers eight rooms and a fully catered experience, including breakfast, concierge service, and daily cleaning. It also provides a menu of private services (chef, yoga instructor) plus recreational and cultural activities.
Historic Hotel Converted into an Elegant Villa Rental
Rising brightly from extensive gardens and vineyard-blanketed hills, this eight-room boutique hotel dating from 1918 is available in its entirety as an exclusive estate.
A Balearic Island agrotourism destination first rescued from near ruin in the early 2000s, the property is located on more than 15,000 square meters of landscaped gardens, with romantic terraces and arching outdoor pergolas for unwinding. There’s a pool and breakfast terrace, and the rural location is an ideal starting point for island adventures, from horseback riding to cycling, hiking, or boating.
Common areas reveal the estate’s history as a distinguished mansion, with a refined living area, solarium, and vinyl-listening zone in the lobby entry foyer. Bedrooms are all located upstairs on the first or second floors, created to be intimate and gentle, with softly hued contemporary furnishings in a neutral palette. Some rooms feature terraces (three rooms) or big bay windows (one room) or overhead sky lights between the timbers (four second-story rooms) to infuse them with natural light. All rooms include a workstation and bathroom with a shower.
Organized experiences include boat trips to Menorca’s famed coves, bike rides through the vineyards, or on-site guided yoga sessions. The hotel is home to a winery and cheese factory, each producing traditional local products characteristic of Menorca’s Mediterranean climate.
Around
Surrounded by vineyards, with a vast garden encircling the property, the hotel was once an exclusive country estate and farm, and still offers a working winery and cheese-making operation. The property is located outside of the town of Ferreries, Menorca’s highest elevation community, a picturesque spot known for its vivid white architecture. The town of some 6,000 residents presents narrow alleyways and hidden squares within its maze of brightly whitewashed buildings. The town’s heart dates from the 17th century, and there are remains of an ancient defensive castle on top of Santa Agueda mountain, its walls and several towers left from the 10th to 13th centuries. Fishmongers once gathered at the aptly named Peixateria Square, one of the village’s most photogenic plazas.
One of the island’s prehistoric sites, Son Mercer de Baix village, more than 3,500 years old, is only four kilometers outside of Ferreries. The town hosts a colorful weekly Saturday food market, and despite its inland location, the municipality’s beaches are among the island’s most celebrated for their beauty. Cala Galdana is the most easily reachable, and other beach coves not to be missed include nearby Cala Mitjana and Cala Mitjaneta. Hikers and cyclists can enter Menorca’s Mediterranean forests directly from the property, and boat excursions and horseback riding as well as guided visits can be arranged by the property’s concierge.
