Sleep in a Santorini Windmill
This cluster of villas is a lovely combination of traditional Greek architecture and dainty country chic. Soft pastel hues and floral details give them a sense of whimsy, and clean lines lend a very modern feel. Add to that the fact that they're located on the coast of one of Greece's most beautiful islands, Santorini...
Let's leave aside for a moment the fact that it's possible to stay in a windmill... Close to the best tourist destinations but just far enough off the beaten track to offer peace and quiet - and you've got a great all-round destination.
There is so much to love here. Let's start with the location, on the north-east coast of the island overlooking the Aegean. It's within easy reach of the beach and nearby towns, but set back from all the action - giving a wonderful sense of seclusion. However, if you want to bring the party with you, you can rent all three villas.
ADDITIONAL FEATURES
Each villa has its own parking space, and air conditioning in each room. Its kitchen is fully equipped with a stove, fridge, dishwasher, filter coffee maker, espresso coffee maker and toaster. There is also a Broil King BBQ. There is also satellite television, a CD/DVD player, radio, JBL docking station, telephone and safe deposit box. Bedrooms have eco-friendly mattresses, feather pillows and slippers. Bathrooms have Apivita amenities and hairdryers.
AROUND
The villas are located on the north-east coast of Santorini, between the capital of Fira and the traditional settlement of Ia - a peaceful escape even at peak season. From the terraces, guests have a panoramic view of the Aegean as well as the islands of Ios, Naxos, Koufonissi, Amorgos and Anafi.
Owners recommend a boat tour around the island's dramatic caldera, and will be happy to arrange it. Some of the island's beaches are only accessible by boat. Choose from a traditional boat or a catamaran. They also recommend sampling local cuisine like small tomatoes, white eggplant, peanuts, fruits, vegetables, and the famous fava which has been cultivated on the island for more than 3,000 years.
