A Newly Built Cabin on the Water's Edge
With over 13,000km of coastline, the Canadian province of Nova Scotia is the place to go to for dramatic vistas, sandy beaches, and coastal hikes. Follow the access road to this cabin through acres of wooded land, and you'll find a striking architect-designed home at the water's edge, with dramatic views of the Atlantic.
Seal Rock House was built in 2021 and has just been made available for rentals, offering the best of modern design combined with easy access to the great outdoors that Nova Scotia is famous for.
The cabin itself is an exercise in simplicity – dark paneled exteriors, with sleek and highly functional black and white interiors. The ground floor living area is light and bright, with a tucked away en-suite bedroom, an office nook, and a mezzanine loft reached by ladder.
A private beach just minutes from the house slopes gently into the water, making it ideal for children or for launching kayaks to tour the bay and swim with the seals. If you want to watch the marine life from closer to home, there are two sheltered decks back at the house, as well as ocean views from every room.
This cabin for rent in Nova Scotia is the perfect hideaway for a family vacation or a secluded workation. It is an open-plan space with a combined living-dining area and gourmet kitchen. It has one master bedroom, an en-suite bathroom with a tiled shower, a small office, and an optional second bedroom in the loft, which is reached by ladder.
AROUND
This cabin for rent in Nova Scotia is located above secluded Gegogan Harbour near Liscomb, just two hours from Halifax, on the Eastern Shore, one of the most rugged parts of the province. The property is 50 acres in size, with its own sandy beach, which means there's plenty of outdoors to be explored within its grounds.
For those wanting to explore a little farther afield, the cabin is on the Marine Drive, a designated scenic route. It features unspoiled beaches, tidal inlets and salt marshes, all teeming with wildlife, as well as great waters for sea kayaking, parks for picnicking, and trails for hiking. The Drive passes through numerous villages, some of which feature living history museums, including a goldmining complex in a 1940s village at Memory Lane in Lake Charlotte and a 19th-century blacksmith and sawmill in Sherbrooke Village. Venture inland, and you'll find lakes and rivers that are perfect for anglers and paddlers.
