Traditional & Contemporary Kyoto Meet in Nishirokkaku
The Senraku House motto is: “experience living in Kyoto, not visiting Kyoto." And true to this credo, the holiday home rental presents a culturally immersive experience within one of the world’s most beloved cities. Situated in the heart of downtown Kyoto, Senraku House gives guests easy access to much of the city’s offerings. Walk to the nearby Nijo Castle, or take a short train ride to the Kiyomizu Temple, the Gion Geisha District, or the Yasaka Shrine, just to name a few. Day trips to neighboring towns Nara, Ohara, and Osaka are also a breeze with Senraku House as your basecamp.
The house itself underwent a sleek renovation in 2011 that preserved the original building’s authenticity, while injecting it with luxe updates. Chocolatey brown accents bring a rich warmth to the wooden and a white interiors, setting a scene of serenity throughout. Traditional sliding doors called Shoji bisect the cozy rooms, creating intimate spaces for reading, relaxing, and tea time.
Senraku House provides the perfect place for a traditional Japanese experience that will have you feeling like a resident instead of a tourist.
Contemporary style meets traditional Kyoto architecture in Nishirokkaku. This is a great urban retreat in the heart of one of the most vibrant districts of central Kyoto. Laid out on the ground floor level, the main living area features large windows overlooking the city and a dining area built for two and shares the space with the fully equipped kitchen.
Nestled next to it and divided by screens, is the cozy bedroom oasis that sleeps two. There is room for an additional two guests with futons. Stylish but simple, the apartment is decorated with contemporary Japanese art and traditional crafts.
The multiple windows provide loads of natural light and an expansive sense of space.
