This little compound in Landers is a truly unique way of experiencing the California desert. A dome house built in 1980, surrounded by a cluster of trailers artfully decorated by local muralists, it has a great bohemian vibe.

Landers is famous for its UFO culture and the Integratron, a white cupola structure built by ufologist George van Tassel in the 1950s. But it’s also close to the laid-back desert community of Twentynine Palms and the ever-popular Joshua Tree National Park.

The central geodesic dome is an airy one-bedroom hangout, but on the 2.3-acre piece of land there are also three air-conditioned trailers, five hammocks, and a collection of Adirondack chairs around a firepit.

The pool and a hot tub are great places to while away desert days – and nights. Unsurprisingly, it’s the perfect spot for stargazing.

This vacation home rental in Joshua Tree is a great location for gatherings with family and friends, but it is not an all-night party venue. It’s located in a quiet, rural neighborhood that offers a peaceful getaway.

Included in the listing is the Dome Home, The Oasis Pool, the Hot Tub, the Space Trailer, The Flower Trailer, The Joshua Tree Trailer, the Outhouse (two full restrooms and laundry room), the enclosed pool area patio with propane fire pit, as well as the rest of the property.

DESERT ADVENTURE

There are miles of outdoor desert adventure in the area as well as several unique attractions and interesting local museums and art venues to visit.

These include the Noah Purifoy Outdoor Desert Art Museum, and the famed Integratron as well as historic Pioneertown. A kitschy Hollywood relic founded in the 1940s as an authentic frontier town movie set, today there are a few shops, cafes and galleries to visit including the famous Pappy & Harriet's Pioneertown Palace. If you plan to have dinner at Pappy & Harriet's, we strongly recommend making an advance reservation.

If you would like a better view of the night sky there is a company called Coyote Telescope that offers a “Star Tour” that uses the fantastic Celestron CPC Deluxe 1100 HD computerized telescope.
