17th-Century Cottages Inspired by Norfolk's Wild Coast
These four charming cottages were constructed from a barn in the grounds of a 17th-century Jacobean manor house, and make a chic and cozy hideaway for enjoying the English seaside.
Voted among the Best British Holiday Houses by Condé Nast Traveller and the UK's 50 Best Winter Weekends by The Times, they are rustic, stylish, and beautiful in their simplicity.
Set in a row in a converted cartshed, the space was reinvented by the interior designer-owner and inspired by the natural elements of Norfolk's coastal landscape. The original timbers and structural features have been restored and cleverly integrated with modern conveniences and are complemented with oak floors and natural materials that echo the wild beauty of the local environment.
Paying homage to the Shell Gallery, the muted colors in Shell are a sophisticated blend of oyster, silver and taupe, with subtle, playful shell motifs throughout.
Playing on the ever-shifting shades of the local salt marshes and grassy dunes, Samphire’s hues of putty and fern mix with linen and rustic oak to create a soft grey-green scheme.
Seal’s color palette reflects the grey seals of nearby Blakeney Point as muted natural shades contrast with striking tones of black and charcoal and natural oak, slate, linen and cowhide set the mood.
Echoing the horizons of North Norfolk, Sky’s pale hues of blue, lavender and silver-grey reflect the vast skies and coastline.
THE WINDSWEPT BEAUTY OF NORFOLK
The cottages are ideally located for exploring the northernmost regions of Norfolk's beautiful coast and countryside and is within a short drive to some of the areas most charming villages including the harbor town of Blakeney, the pretty market town of Holt, Burnham Market, Holkam, one of the UK’s top stately homes, Cley, Morston, Salthouse and Brancaster where you can soak up the local flavor, wander the shorelines and peruse an array of shops, cafes and pubs.
