A Conscious and Connected Desert Sanctuary

Solara at Masseria Morongo is an elegant, three-bedroom modern home in Morongo Valley, perfectly positioned between Joshua Tree National Park and Palm Springs. Designed by Jojo Steinberg and architect Trent Laughton of not|not Architecture, this newly built 2025 structure is guided by principles of sustainability. The architecture favors clean lines and floor-to-ceiling glass pocket doors that vanish into the wall. It features a private heated saltwater spool (a spa/pool hybrid) and three bedrooms each with an en-suite bathroom, and it's set on five private acres with panoramic mountain views.

We love how the vanishing glass walls create postcard views in both directions, framing the desert landscape like a living art piece while showcasing the creative interiors against the raw outdoors. You honestly won't miss the television here, as the shifting light on the mountains provides a far better show than anything on a screen. It’s a brilliant move by not|not Architecture to strip away distractions and let the design simply hold space for the wild beauty around it.

A Conscious and Connected Desert Sanctuary

This home is a deeply personal project, born from a desire to create soulful, grounding spaces in the desert. The design focuses on comfort and consciousness, blending a subtle, modern aesthetic with highly efficient construction. The deliberate use of light, warm textures, and floor-to-ceiling glass frames the vast desert setting.

Clean lines and warm textures define the open-plan living space, which is flooded with natural light. The kitchen, equipped with Bosch appliances, flows into a generous dining area designed for shared meals and conversation. The home is intentionally television-free to promote rest and reconnection. Each of the three private bedrooms functions as a sanctuary, complete with soft linens and its own en-suite, spa-like bathroom, ensuring privacy for all guests.

The outdoor space is a highlight, encompassing five private acres of open desert and mountain vistas. The private saltwater spool, a perfect hybrid of a spa and a pool, offers year-round relaxation with heating included. Guests can gather at the generous outdoor dining table, utilizing the built-in barbecue. An additional outdoor shower invites open-air rituals, and multiple seating areas are positioned to capture the breathtaking sunrises and starry nights.

What we love

We love how the vanishing glass walls create postcard views in both directions, framing the desert landscape like a living art piece while showcasing the creative interiors against the raw outdoors. You honestly won't miss the television here, as the shifting light on the mountains provides a far better show than anything on a screen. Good to know

The access road is mostly paved, with the final short stretch being dirt and sand with small rocks, which is accessible to most cars.
