Architect Michele Capobianco's 1960s Villa Brings Back a Golden Era of Mid-Century Italian Design
This architectural villa is a showplace of mid-century Italian design with a striking modern art collection and the beauty of the Amalfi coast at your feet. Just a few minutes from the village of Massa Lubrense outside of Sorrento, it’s perfectly located to make the most of the region and the stunning views across the Gulf of Naples to Capri.
Architect Michele Capobianco's 1960s Villa Brings Back a Golden Era of Mid-Century Italian Design
Designed by Italian architect Michele Capobianco in 1964, and renovated by Massimo Pica and Ciammara and Alberto Genio, this sea view villa is not only perfect for lovers of design and architecture, but it is also well located within easy reach of Sorrento, Capri, Pompeii, and Napoli.
Perched on a hillside overlooking the sea and the island of Capri, the two-story villa's interiors were designed by Kristine Standnes and feature high ceilings, beautiful tiled floors, with contemporary furnishings and art - from large abstract paintings to imposing sculptures dotted around the property.

Spacious, with enough room to sleep up to ten guests, the first floor has one double bedroom and one twin. Follow the cool spiral staircase, and there’s a second floor with a bedroom-studio and a separate guest house that has a double family room.
Surrounded in parkland, the villa has terraces at ground level and on the rooftop, and a lovely stone-lined pool hangs on the edge of the garden, overlooking the sea. A private stair leads straight down to the beach. As a location for whiling away the days in the sunshine, reading, swimming and sipping cocktails, this would be very hard to beat.
THE GULF OF NAPLES
A car is recommended to make the most of the surrounding region - and there's a lot to see. If you can tear yourself away from the pool, plan plenty of day trips.
The villa is 6km from Sorrento (Gio Ponti and Hotel Parco dei Principi), 14km from Positano (Da Adolfo Beach and Baia di Laurito), 23km from the beautiful old town of Amalfi, and 23km from the historic ruins of Pompeii.
Don't forget to visit Capri (10km away), the Fontelina Beach Club, and Casa Malaparte, a stunning example of contemporary architecture sitting on a cliff above the Gulf of Salerno, featured in Jean-Luc Godard's 1963 film, Contempt (Le Mépris). Napoli is 32 km away, and must-sees include the Museo Madre and Nitsch Museum.
