Devoted to Simple Living
We've always been fond of the back-to-basics philosophy, and this small boutique hotel in the Catskills is a homage to simplicity. Designed as a rustic escape where the gorgeous scenery is the star, you won't need much more than the simple comforts of a hammock, a bonfire under the stars, and the sound of the nearby stream.
Set on over eight acres in an idyllic valley, this boutique hotel in the Catskills is a peaceful escape devoted to simple living. First settled in the 1800s with many subsequent incarnations, the property was formerly a working farm, a private residence and a hotel. Built in the 1960s as a hunting lodge and left derelict and dated for decades, the motel structure was restored by a pair of transplanted New Yorkers who transformed the mid-century strip style rooms with a rustic minimalism.
Bright and simple with whitewashed interiors, each of the nine rooms has been pared down to the basics and furnished with a sparse selection of hand crafted furniture and a muted palette to allow the location and scenery to take center stage. Each room sleeps two and six come equipped with kitchenettes for self catering.
The property includes a neighboring barn and the farmhouse where the owners live as well as a bar and canteen serving locally crafted brew, wine and cider as well as snacks. There are hammocks and lounge chairs scattered throughout the property as well as three fire pits and grills for enjoying the great outdoors.
The owners host an Artist-in-Residence Program throughout the year offering week long stays to artists and writers as well as other local market events and weddings.
Natural, uncomplicated and down to earth, this is the kind of living that never goes out of style.
ADDITIONAL FEATURES
Wifi (in common area), complimentary freshly ground coffee and pastries, library of books and maps, yard games, kitchen amenities and fresh herbs from the garden, all natural bath products, firewood.
