A Bali-inspired Goan Sanctuary for Bibliophiles and Nature Lovers
On a hilltop that watches over paddy fields, rests a 2015-built luxury villa in Goa. Creators Hans Tuinman and Sucheta Potnis, an environmentally-minded couple with deep roots in the travel industry, drew upon their adventures and expertise to create a tropical paradise with Balinese leanings, featuring a free-flowing layout and a grand living room with double-height cathedral ceilings and exposed wood beams. Summertime’s grand interior is filled with charming touches, from recessed niches in the walls to artifacts and textiles, to a custom-built “bibliochaise,” a chair with built-in shelves (filled with internationally-diverse works, of course).
The property is enveloped by two acres of lush gardens and situated walking distance from world-famous beaches such as Calangute. Architectural churches and cathedrals dot the area as well, blending Hindu and Portuguese influences and retaining UNESCO Heritage status. Guests may find it a challenge to leave the property, however, with the pressing question of which pool beckons strongest at the moment: plunge, or infinity.
This luxury villa in Goa is surrounded by nature. Take a walk on the grounds and encounter mango, frangipani and coconut trees, while enjoying the meditative effect of a koi pond and waterfall. Three suites, plenty of space and an on-site cook were considerations aimed to give you deep rest, inspire your creative spirit and tune your senses to the chorus of winged wonders sharing the property, from orioles to kingfishers to the lime-green Jerdon’s leafbird.
Summertime was awarded "Asia’s Most Romantic Boutique Retreat" for 2016 by World Boutique Hotel Awards.
ADDITIONAL FEATURES
The property comes with a full-time, on-site cook, gardeners and security. Guests can buy groceries and cooking ingredients themselves (or ask the staff to do so), and the chef will prepare their preferred meals.
