A Greenery-Cloaked Getaway
A sweet backyard shed transformed into a chic, breezy micro home and patio, Terra Villeta is the baby sister behind Casa Terra Lumi. An upscale, architect-designed take on the boxy standard, this sweet one-bedroom outpost opens onto a dining deck, has a luxurious indoor/outdoor bath, and comes outfitted in a cool, minimalist aesthetic of neutrals and naturals.
An intimate garden shed-turned-tiny home, this wee getaway is cloaked in lush greenery, coated in soft plaster, and features thoughtful updates like a wavy custom wood divider and slatted entry façade. An intimate nest for one or two, the pretty, light-filled escape occupies a garden of bamboo, palms, flowering shrubs and a photo-worthy oversized cactus of boho dreams.
AROUND
An urban oasis in the heart of Fort Lauderdale, the home feels like a tropical hideaway though it's only five minutes from the airport and a quick two miles from the city’s famed Las Olas Boulevard. Fort Lauderdale’s beaches are world-class and all easy drives from the house. Pompano Beach feels remote, the favorite launch for snorkelers and scuba divers who can access coral reefs immediately offshore. Slightly outside of town, Hillsboro Beach has a historical lighthouse and is a sea turtle nesting ground, while Deerfield Beach boasts a huge international fishing pier and a live underwater camera feed. Lauderdale-by-the-Sea is a favorite haunt for lovers of mid-century modern, lined by low slung era architecture and offering a shipwreck snorkeling trail.
Las Olas Beach is Fort Lauderdale’s shining star, a right-in-the-city sandy stretch and beachfront promenade lined with glitzy boutiques and destination restaurants, plus guides offering yacht and paddleboard tours. Another in-town boardwalk can be found on Hollywood Beach, a lower-key, family- and pet-friendly stretch lined with cute cafes and shops. Fort Lauderdale is known as the “Venice of America” for its canals that make up the IntraCoastal Waterway, a feat of engineering that stretches 3,000 miles between the Atlantic and Gulf Coasts, made up of 300 miles of inland canals that wind through the urban landscape and extend out to the Everglades ecosystem.
