Simple Luxury in the Dordogne
We love the mix of old and new in this converted French hayloft. It retains many of its original features like stone walls, tiled roof and exposed interior beams. But it also has a lovely modern minimalist feel to it - a predominantly white palette with bold splashes of art and cool vintage finds.

This cottage was once a hayloft used for drying tobacco, but today it's a charming holiday apartment. We love its bright colors and creative details - from the deep red living room wall with its recessed fireplace to the modern paintings that are dotted around the property.
Exposed whitewashed beams make a cool feature, and French windows with breezy curtains give the property an airy feel. Modern furniture is mixed with painted rustic tables and chairs, creating an eclectic vibe.
The ground floor is open plan, with a large kitchen, dining area and lounge. The three large bedrooms are upstairs, as well as a bathroom with bathtub, and a shower-room with separate WC. The outdoor space is equally appealing, with its pretty terrace, lawn and fruit trees. It has a private 12-metre swimming pool.
ADDITIONAL FEATURES
The house has electric heating, hot water, washing machine, tumble dryer, dishwasher, fridge/freezer, electric oven, gas hobs, extractor fan, satellite TV, stereo/CD player, telephone and wireless broadband internet. It has its own driveway and car park.
AROUND
Lusignac is situated in the Dordogne of south-west France. There is a great market on Fridays at Riberac. Popular destinations nearby include the historic towns of Aubeterre-sur-Dronne (13km) and Villebois-Lavalette (18km).
The property is 36km from Perigueux, the regional capital which is well worth visiting for its Roman remains including the Vesone Tower and an amphitheatre, the Chateau Barrière which dates back to the early Middle Ages, and the 16th-century Saint-Etienne church.
Périgord is noted for its cuisine, especially its duck and goose, in the form of confit de canard and foie gras, and truffles. The Dordogne is also famous for having some of France’s finest prehistoric cave art, in the Vézère Valley.
