Sea Ranch Spirit on Rincon Point
Originally envisioned by San Francisco architect Adolf Rosekrans and reimagined by David Cameron Studio, this coastal sanctuary started with Rosekrans’ architectural restraint and was later layered with David Cameron’s warm, residential textures. It utilizes large-scale glazing to frame the Channel Islands, and the design prioritizes the soul of the coast, blending original architectural bones with contemporary updates like reverse osmosis systems and EV charging infrastructure.
Inside, travertine countertops and custom oak millwork define the open-plan chef’s kitchen, while the primary suite serves as a private spa retreat. Here, a sunken travertine tub and dual wardrobes offer a tactile, quiet elegance. Two fireplaces ground the airy, light-filled volumes of the main living areas.
The exterior is a Mediterranean-inflected coastal garden, complete with a stone fountain and a cedar-clad oceanfront deck. The property borders a lush bird estuary, offering a front-row seat to the local heron population. Direct beach access leads to the sand, while the expansive deck serves as an elevated perch for panoramic views and salt-misted evenings by the surf.
What we love
We love how the vertical wood siding and warm oak millwork bring that raw Sea Ranch soul down to the Santa Barbara coast. The huge glass walls make the Channel Islands feel like they’re part of the living room. Our favorite spot is the deck for lazy lounging and easy foodie hangouts, especially since it leads right onto the sand, which is a rarity.
