Founded by Samantha and John Ritschl-Lassoudry, the duo thrives on innovative ideas rooted in understanding context, and specialize in designing unique environments, furnishings, and interiors for both residential and commercial clients.

Rooted into the forest floor from an inland vantage point, this holiday home in Brazil designed by Basel based Lassoudry Architects, is set along the Atlantic coast of Bahia with lush jungle and distant ocean views. 

Bright elegant and open-plan, the home's upper floor is surrounded by slide away glass on either side, in an expansive and seamless space that combines living and dining areas with a chef's kitchen at the far end. 

Opening out to opposing promenades that wrap around the perimeter and extend into a large open-air terrace, the house has an immersive, indoor/outdoor flow. 

The lofty, teak wood ceilings are offset by polished concrete and stone, bright bolts of color, modern handcrafted furnishings and fixtures, giving this home the relaxed vibe you want on vacation without withholding luxury. 

The lower floor houses three en suite bedrooms awash in vibrant color that sleep up to six guests.

Surrounded by rain forest and lightly landscaped to retain its relationship to the wild, the property has a pool that stretches out towards the Atlantic, offering you your own, cool patch of blue in paradise.

AROUND

The vibrant, celebratory culture of Bahia is one of the richest and most varied in Brazil, with Carnival, June parties, the washing of the steps of the Bonfim, the party of Santa Barbara, the Yemanja party and the São Sebastião party.

Its Itacaré region is home to sixteen gorgeous and largely underpopulated beaches, overlooked by rocky mountains covered in rainforest. The land is littered with river mouths and waterfalls and inhabited by rich fauna and flora. 

The small beaches of Tiririca, Rezende and Costa are to the south of Itacaré, followed by other calmer and wilder beaches such as Jeribucaçu and Engenhoca, accessible through trail walks in the woods.

Itacare, Bahia, Brazil. Nearest Airport: Ilhéus Airport (30 mins). Domestic companies have regular flights from the main capital (Rio/Sao Paulo/Salvador) cities to Ilhéus (2-hour flight from Sao Paulo or Rio, 45 minutes from Salvador).
