Steps from the Sea: An Architect-Designed Seafront Villa
Set right on the coastline of Syros, this newly constructed, local stone and bright white Cycladic residence created by Evripiotis Architects offers two levels of bleached, beachfront bliss that sleeps a crowd. The contemporary villa sits side-by-side with its sister villa, Villa Alia, across an aromatic, native herb, shrub and pomegranate-tree-dotted garden designed by landscape architect Helli Pangalou.
A+: An Exceptional Aegean Sea Villa Fit for A Crowd
A generous geometric villa spanning a 2.5-acre lot and spread over two floors, this contemporary, architect-designed destination features six ensuite bedrooms and eight baths, plus plenty of space to spread out on multiple shaded pergolas, terraces, and in covered dining and entertainment zones.
Newly constructed, the property offers all the modern bells and whistles set in a rustic designer garden of native shrubs and aromatics, plus fruiting trees like olives and pomegranates. The waterfall-edged infinity pool offers dozens of sunbeds, and views fall directly onto the islets of Schinoniso and Stroggyli. The villa has unobstructed views of the sea (with amazing sunsets), and two of Syros’ top beaches are only steps down a private footpath through the landscaped garden to the sea.
If even more space is needed, the villa can be rented with its next door neighbor, sister property Villa Alia, making it ideal for reunions of families and friends.
Around
With breathtaking views of the Cycladic islets of Schinoniso and Stroggyli in the foreground, this panoramic villa also overlooks Sifnos, Serifos and Kithnos on the horizon, and promises wildly colorful sunsets and direct access to the sea. Two of the island’s best-loved beaches, Komito and Agathopes, are within walking distance of the villa, reachable via a foothpath leading from the home to the coastine. The villages of Poseidonia and Foinikas are the closest communities. Poseidonia is an aristocratic enclave, a resort neighborhood dominated by elegant holiday villas, longstanding restaurants and cafes, and the Orthodox and Catholic churches of St. John and St. Peter’s.
Beyond sea and sunbathing, Syros offers urban sightseeing pursuits in its capital city of Ermoupolis (12 km). As the Cycladic capital, Ermoupolis offers a wealth of Neoclassical architecture, with over 1,000 classified buildings, theaters, restaurants and historical monuments, plus notable festivals and a thriving arts and culinary scene. Outside of the capital city, the medieval amphitheater and city of Ano Syros is worth a visit, as are the ancient monuments in Kastri, north of the capital. A large portion of the island is a designated Natura 2000 region, accessible only by sea.
