This newly-designed villa for eight, with its spectacular infinity pool and outdoor-living focus, follows the contour of the coastline. The inspired creation of Giorgos Evriipiotis Architects, it sits side by side with its sister villa, Villa Aktaia, extending its guest capacity when rented together. Sun splashed, generous and alluring, the villa's outdoor living areas are flanked by exposed stone on a panoramic rise above the sea, with a charming footpath below its rugged stone walls into an olive grove and out to sea.

Contemporary Cycladic White-on-Stone

Built of local stone and classic, bright white Cycladic styling, this contemporary villa covers two stories and stands in an herb, shrub and pomegranate-tree-dotted garden designed by landscape architect Helli Pangalou. The waterfall-edged infinity pool is the property’s showpiece, and the pool deck features unobstructed views and sunsets over the sea.

The home’s open-plan common areas are upstairs, and spread out to an expansive deck and pool terrace space below, ideal for alfresco lounging and dining. Bedrooms and five baths are downstairs, all bright, crisp and breezy, set in a palette of neutrals, some with garden and others with sea views.

With breathtaking views of the Cycladic islets of Schinoniso and Stroggyli in the foreground, this panoramic villa also overlooks Sifnos, Serifos and Kithnos, and promises colorful sunsets and direct access to the sea. Two of the island’s best-loved beaches, Komito and Agathopes, are within walking distance of the villa, reachable via a foothpath leading from the home to the coastine. The villages of Poseidonia and Foinikas are the closest communities. Poseidonia is an aristocratic enclave, a resort neighborhood dominated by elegant holiday villas, longstanding restaurants and cafes, and the Orthodox and Catholic churches of St. John and St. Peter’s.

Beyond sea and sunbathing, Syros offers urban sightseeing pursuits in its capital city of Ermoupolis (12km). As the Cycladic capital, Ermoupolis has a wealth of Neoclassical architecture, with over 1,000 classified buildings, theaters, restaurants and historical monuments, plus notable festivals and a thriving arts and culinary scene. Outside of the capital city, the medieval amphitheater and city of Ano Syros is worth a visit, as are the ancient monuments in Kastri, north of the capital. A large portion of the island is a designated Natura 2000 region, accessible only by sea.
