All about the View
This south-facing villa occupies a flowering hillside in fragrant Provence, only two miles from the Mediterranean. A sand-toned, angular view home with a wide pool and panoramic deck, it’s named for the dark-eyed flowers that blanket the horizon under a classic landscape of twisting olives, fruiting citrus, and aromatic scrub.

A geometric outpost overlooking the Mediterranean Sea, this contemporary villa for rent in France is all about its pretty panorama. Simplicity and light combine in its angular architecture, and the home’s soft exterior tone melds into its hillside lot. A classic slice of Provence with soft rises and rocky outcroppings clad in arid, fragrant shrubs, the property’s ground cover includes the home’s namesake flower, the ebony-centered, long-lashed and ever-so-sultry anemone. Interiors are intentionally minimalist and easygoing, cut by generous panes of glass and a patchwork of picture windows, that keep the house all about its view.
AROUND
This villa for rent in France is located in Carqueiranne. A small Provençal harbor village in the Var region of the South of France, it is perhaps best known for its windsurfing beach, Almanarre Beach, a section of the Mediterranean coastline bordered by pine trees and backed by rock. A secluded zone known as Giens Peninsula offers salt marshes with scores of waterbirds, picturesque harbors at La Madrague and Le Neil, and just opposite the mainland are the Golden Isles, including Porquerolles, Port Cross, and the nudist haven of l’ile du Levant.
The area is known for its water sports, and there are also paths for bikers and hikers (Point du Baou Rouge, Richet Castle, the Paradis mountains). Country club sports—golf, tennis—are popular with residents, who also love a steaming wide bowl of local bouillabaisse, the area’s signature fish and shellfish soup served alongside toasts topped with saffron-spiked rouille. Hyères, with its medieval castle remains and modernist art center Villa Noailles, is considered by many to be “the original French Riviera,” an aristocratic enclave of old stones and enviable markets.
