Rural Mediterranean Retreat
Named for its location in a rural Mediterranean valley just inland from Spain’s southeastern Costa Blanca, this rustic villa is an authentic finca under the loquat and citrus trees with a leisurely saltwater pool out back. It has room for eight to unwind in its low-key country atmosphere, a place to live simply, wander, and enjoy the rural atmosphere on the farm.
Rural Mediterranean Retreat
Tucked in a rugged valley of sun warmed rocky outcroppings and abundant fruit trees, this family-friendly traditional finca is a rustic holiday retreat for up to eight people by Estudio Arquitectura Alicante, AROLDÁN's Antonio Roldan. Encircled by the Sierra de Bernia hills of the greater Costa Blanca region, this rural getaway offers three bedrooms, two rainshower bathrooms, a sleeping area with a sofa bed, a fully-equipped kitchen, and a spacious living/dining/gathering area with a wood stove and a pair of pretty, sun drenched terraces overlooking the fertile countryside. Created as a country refuge where life moves at a slower pace, the leisurely villa’s style is bright and carefree—a simple, stylish spot with a pool patio and outdoor solar shower and distant sea views beyond the rugged hills dotted with glinting olive and shaggy palms.
The property offers a Mediterranean Meals set for cooking with fresh produce on site, and a Slow Down Siesta Session with a custom playlist to encourage you to ease into your days on the finca, slow down, and let the location work its magic.
Around
Located in the Callosa d'en Sarrià valley between the hills of the Sierra de Bernia, the ancient community of Guadalest and the crashing hidden waterfalls of the Fonts d’Algar, the home offers a rural retreat from busier touristed areas, although the beaches of the Costa Blanca are easily accessible in and around Altea (and the picturesque bohemian village of Altea itself is not to missed).
The closest beaches include Playa d’Altea, Playa de Cap Negret or Playa de Albir, long stretches of white sands or tiny white pebbles flanked by cliffs that dive into the sea. One particularity of the region is its wealth of dramatic waterfalls and freshwater swimming holes, las fuentes del Algar, only a few minutes’ drive from the property. The main falls are the font del Moro and the Toll de la Caldera. Toll Blau and Toll del Beladre are a bit more out of the way, with ultra-blue waters for swimming, and Toll de la Presa and Toll de la Figuera require a bit more effort to get to, but are well worth the walk. The ancient village of Guadalest is known as one of the Costa Blanca’s most beautiful. It’s literally carved from the jagged rocks, and has a castle and town square where time has stood still. The white village of Altea shines from a hill near the Costa Blanca. A jumble of white townhouses and indigo-tiled roofs, the narrow streets of the village are draped in bougainvillea, and the town brims with studios and shops and deliciously simple family-run restaurants and tabernas.
