The kitchen was created for generous Italian-style gathering and al fresco dining, too, opening outdoors to a fixed entertainment terrace with a table, built-in grill station and stately patio. A sun-drenched pool surrounded by lounge beds extends beyond the neatly landscaped dining/entertainment zone, among ancient olive and fruit trees, with the Apulian countryside stretching beyond.

Despite its secluded location at the end of a picturesque gravel road, this stately villa is only 20 minutes’ drive from the Mediterranean Sea and a quicker 10 minutes to the historic, UNESCO-classified “White City” of Ostuni. Italy’s Valle d’Itria offers memorable food, great wines and miles of beautiful landscapes both inland and along the Adriatic Sea. The villages of Martina Franca, Cisternino and Locorotondo are some of the region’s most well preserved. The charming little fishing harbor of Savelletri and the lovely old town of Ceglie Messpica, renowned for its excellent tables, are also nearby.

Take in the amazing Torre Guaceto Nature Reserve, a protected marine wilderness area with an abundance of bird life. And don’t miss the cliffside harbor town of Polignano a Mare, a gem of the Adriatic coast, or the Grotte di Castellana, an extensive karst cave system that is among Puglia’s top attractions. The village of Alberobello is famed for its conical trulli—former agricultural stores that have become a symbol of the region. Grottaglie is the destination for ceramic lovers. And nearby Ostuni, the jewel of the region set high above the olive groves, offers a vividly whitewashed historic heart pulsing with cafes, boutiques, and seasonal markets and a Gothic cathedral.
