A Polished Hilltop Villa with Charming Alpine Touches
Taking its name from a pale green hue, this stunning villa carved out of an old winery is perched above the UNESCO World Heritage Monferrato Hills and the Alps. Surrounded by a patchwork of lush gardens and vineyards with 360-degree views, it’s a spectacularly located vacation rental in Italy, close to the borders of Switzerland and France.
The former cascina was respectfully restored, and ready to show off its elegant sweeping arches and Swiss cross-patterned brick facade. Delicate brick and tilework pervade the interiors, with barrel-vaulted ceilings and intricately painted ceilings.
With room for up to 13 guests, the home has seven luxury bedrooms and five bathrooms. Two living rooms contain luxury Scandinavian furniture, and a large kitchen gleams with marble slates. The dining room can host up to 13 guests too, with a gorgeous view to drink in (along with a bottle of local Barolo or Barbaresco perhaps).
A large ozone pool is the crown jewel of the grounds, which also feature pergolas, lounges, and an outdoor kitchen with a barbecue and pizza oven. Challenge a travelmate to a game of petanque or basketball - the home has courts for both.
The owners believe Piedmont is the most beautiful part of the country, and are excited to welcome families and groups who might come to appreciate the region just as fervently.
Additional features
The villa is available on request for photo and film shoots, yoga retreats, corporate retreats, wine tastings and more. Inquire for details.
Around
Surrounded by vineyards, rolling hills, and lovely forested regions, the small town of Nizza Monferrato is just a few minutes from the house and is ideal for walking its narrow streets to discover its numerous restaurants and bistros and many great little shops. The village Calamandrana is also just down the hill from the house, offering your basic necessities such as a supermarket, butcher and baker, pharmacy and post office.
Designated a UNESCO Heritage site renown for its pastoral beauty and legendary culinary scene, Piedmont’s slow food and wine movement means you’ll have an amazing array of outstanding eateries throughout the area. From gourmet dining, to the many simple Osterias, the cuisine here is as well known as the rare and superb truffles. The towns of Canelli and Nizza Monferrato are a short 5 km. drive, and Milan, Turin and the Ligurian coast are about an hour’s drive away.
