Adjacent to the main house, a guest casita channels the mid-century modern era, with warm woods, exposed stones, and built-in furnishings. The larger main house time travels to the present day, offering more 21st-century-styled interiors and huge, picture window views.

Given this, the village of Esporles, that spreads out in the valley below the home, has become a bit of a destination in its own right, drawing expats to the area in search of old stones, outdoor sport options, and local foods, wines, and peppery olive oils. Generally a quiet village, the main street borders a rushing stream and is framed by a canopy of manicured plane trees. Its Saturday farmers’ market is a regional favorite, and the village is home to a neo-Gothic church and a local swimming hole created by the cold mountain stream. 

Hikers, cyclists, and wine sippers come to the area for its well-marked routes and its well-regarded Es Verger vineyard and oil producer. A top hike in the area is the “Old Postman’s Route” between the village and Banyalbufar, a steep climb with natural springs, thick forests, and sea views. Rock climbers prefer an outcropping near the Es Verger vineyard, and easygoing road trippers will enjoy driving by the rugged fincas and picturesque groves that extend out of town towards San Capaspre or Mirand de Mar, many of them working olive oil producers. While nightlife is minimal in Esporles, a network of charming taverns pouring local wines offer terraces animated by live music on weekends.
