The ideal neighborhood for wandering, admiring and eating, Roma Norte is one of the liveliest sections of Mexico City’s Cuauhtémoc borough. Abuzz with a dazzling variety of restaurants, shops and art galleries, the neighborhood is also known for its historical architecture and leafy avenues. Its central street, Avenida Alvaro Obregón, is quilted with eateries and sidewalk cocktail spots, and refurbished mansions that are home to galleries and cultural centers. It's packed with young professionals, hipsters and families, all sampling its offerings. The Mercado Roma with its multitude of food stalls is a popular neighborhood haunt, and the trendy spot is home to both the affluent and young creative classes, evidenced in its vintage thrift-shop-meets-Art Deco-mansion look and feel.
