Rich in history but updated with serious design and modern style, we were immediately struck by the impact of two worlds in synchronicity. The graceful curves and arches of original stone and masonry construction house a contemporary, spare sensibility and muted color palette.
With its medieval roots beautifully preserved and showcased, this sophisticated and historic home has been transformed into a luxurious and intimate bed and breakfast. Bathed in natural light from the dramatic arched windows, the entry hall is an authentic example of Renaissance design while the living and dining areas are dominated by a magnificent medieval period fireplace.
Smooth, polished concrete floors create a counterpoint to the contemporary and traditional furnishing mix, striking wall murals, and art. The spiral stone stairway establishes a dramatic focal point that leads to a charming patio garden.
Four distinctive en-suite bedrooms feature plenty of privacy and natural light from tall windows that take advantage of different views of the village of Montcuq. Each bath has been updated with contemporary fixtures and plush scented linens. The cool white walls and muted accent walls create a modern and soothing setting.
The kitchen is a triumph of simplicity and efficiency and serves carefully selected local produce, cheese and meats from regional organic farmers, and growers, as well as “BIO” organic wine growers. Dining is a delicious experience here with the chef's specialties varying from day to day.
