Set in two acres of lush tropical jungle in the hills above world-famous surf breaks, this home provides a tranquil getaway far from the hustle of Waikiki. Surrounded in supreme privacy, this mid-century gem has been lightly restored but retains its vintage features and charm amid its exotic surroundings.
The pitched post and beam construction allows for a bright open-plan living space with walls of glass and skylights that bring the light and the jungle in. The simple white clapboard interiors, retro-modern furnishings and bamboo detail are evocative of a more uncomplicated time.
Updated slate and polished bamboo floors keep it fresh and contemporary while the fun and cheerful florals and limited decor allow for the tropics to take center stage.
With three bedrooms and two baths, the home sleeps up to four guests with a large private deck off of the master. The kitchen off of the open-air living area is fully equipped and ready to prepare meals at the indoor dining area or even better, alfresco in the gardens.
The house is surrounded by beautiful (and edible!) gardens of papaya, avocado, kukui nut, pomelo, and banyan trees, as well as numerous flowering plants such as ginger, hibiscus, and plumeria. A lovely gazebo sits off to the side for outdoor dining where you can fire up the grill and relax and enjoy warm tropical nights.
You'll feel the privilege of living in your own private slice of paradise from where you can delight in the many charms of the island. On the same property, there is a charming cottage (here) that can accommodate an additional two guests.
