Stylized but refreshingly simple, this holiday home in Florida pairs a modernist-inspired design theme with the enduring charm of a beach cottage. We like the use of raw industrial materials, the smart layout that emphasizes indoor/outdoor living, and the secluded location just a short stroll from the shore.
Located in the quiet neighborhood of Inlet Beach along the Emerald Coast, this holiday home in Florida is an elegantly modern rendering of a classic beach house. Designed by local architect Frank Greene, the home is lofty and open but with a small footprint by design. Constructed with concrete, corrugated metal, and plywood with angled rooflines, the home is energy-efficient and environmentally sensitive with a floor plan that conserves every inch of space.
The ground floor includes the bright and airy living room and eat-in kitchen with an open master bedroom that can be cleverly repurposed as additional living space with a murphy bed. The master bath includes an indulgent European style soaking tub as well as an indoor/outdoor wet room and shower perfect for a rinse after a day at the beach.
Plentiful windows and doors flood the interiors with natural light and emphasize the exposed materials and deconstructed modern aesthetic. Clad in birchwood with polished concrete floors, the materials take center stage along with a stylish mix of vintage and contemporary furnishings and colorful art and design accents. The kitchen seats four with additional room for six on the screened dining porch with enough space for entertaining.
A spiral stair takes you to the upstairs sitting room that doubles as a guest room featuring a shaded deck that offers glimpses of the nearby beach.
The back of the house opens out to the yard and terrace, providing a seamless indoor-outdoor living, and the large lot affords guests seclusion and privacy just a few minutes from the beach.

Located along the shores of the Gulf Coast, Inlet Beach has some of the area's most beautiful sugar-white sand beaches and dunes and a tight-knit but laid back community.
Know as the Emerald Coast, Inlet Beach is part of South Walton county just west of Panama City. Adjacent to Rosemary Beach and Destin a little further west, the area is home to several great cafes, shops, food, and wine festivals, and seaside farmers' markets. But it's the stunning coastal beaches and turquoise water you'll stay for.
