This A-frame is set in a picture perfect rural location, just over an hour east of Portland. It boasts dramatic views of volcanic Mount Adams in the Cascades to the north, and the orchard of the Hood River County Fruit Loop below. Situated on a quiet country road, the cabin is surrounded in nature.
This vacation home for rent in Oregon has a queen bed, a basic kitchen and a bathroom and shares the property with another home that is sometimes occupied (it is within 250 feet).
It snows a few times a year, so if light snow is forecast, guests will need a 4WD vehicle with snow traction tires. If it snows heavily, the access road isn't always plowed, and chains and snow tires will be essential. Luckily, there are alternative places to park 10 minutes from the house. The main highway is always well plowed, sanded and travelled.
HOOD RIVER
The Hood River area offers easy access to skiing and tubing, as well as hiking and abundant parks. Just 20 minutes west of downtown Hood River is the Gorge 400 Trail, a low-elevation hike that passes numerous rock gardens and waterfalls, and offers views of the Columbia River.
There are great options for families, with the Western Antique Aeroplane and Automobile Museum, one of the largest collections of working antique airplanes and automobiles in the country. Also recommended are the salmon and hydropower production at the Bonneville Lock and Dam Visitor Center, and the open spaces of the Waterfront Park.
Visit u-pick farms, farm stands, and alpacas along the Hood River County Fruit Loop, which kicks off its spring season with Hood River Valley Blossom Time in early April.
Other activities include windsurfing, kiteboarding, mountain biking, snowshoeing and kayaking. And don't miss the local wineries.
