A Hospitality Expert Creates A Villa Of Pristine Design in Harmony With Nature
Completed in Spring 2015, this villa is tucked away in the tiny village of Kozljak at the base of the Ucka mountain range along the Istrian peninsula. Surrounded by forests with stunning uninterrupted views over the vast Cepic valley and the historic medieval towns dotting the neighboring hillsides, the property is vast, quiet, and private.
Designed and conceived by the owner, a professional chef and hospitality expert, the concept combines a modern aesthetic along with an earthy appreciation of country living and a luxurious sense of style and design.
With room for eight guests, the villa is intimate and exclusive with three large suites that share the property and a poolside villa adjacent to the dining area. Bright and spacious, each is designed to be peaceful and private with luxurious en suite baths and magnificent views. Both the suites and ground floor lounge feature, heritage artifacts and a few rustic touches that contrast with the simple modern tone.
The kitchen features a mix of designer pieces and contributions by industrial designer Karim Rashid. The open-plan communal living space on the ground floor is a place for coming together in comfort and luxury where you can lounge fireside, or head out to the poolside terraces to soak in the sun and the view.
CROATIA'S NORTHERNMOST PENINSULA
The largest and northernmost peninsula in the Adriatic, Istria is predominantly rural and bucolic in the interior with lovely villages and rolling hills with beautiful islands just offshore and numerous resorts along the rocky coast.
Učka Nature Park runs along the coastline and is within walking distance of the villa. Part of the Cicarija mountain range, there are miles of wild protected parkland to enjoy. You can bike to the coast or drive to the nearby UNESCO site of Plitvice lakes and waterfalls.
Check out the city of Pula with its ancient Roman Amphitheater and the Hapsburg era seaside resort cities of Opatija and Lovran, both within a short drive along the Kvarner Bay. Croatia’s largest port Rijeka is a bustling and cultured port city and the gateway to the southern islands.
