Situated in a secluded inland village, this villa for rent in Croatia offers privacy in a serene retreat surrounded by nature. Located at the heart of the island, the house is ideally positioned for exploring it all, each area boasting different aspects of the culture, local customs and traditional island life.
Designed as a contemporary take on traditional Croatian structures, the villa's features combine spacious common areas focused around the pool with extensive stonework and masonry inside and out.
The two-story open-plan layout is bright and roomy, with large slideaway glass doors that open out to the terraced pool areas, creating a natural extension of the living and lounge areas. The fully-equipped kitchen features an eat-in dining area with additional terrace seating poolside.
The interiors are designed to evoke a sense of warmth and coziness while at the same time exhibiting the characteristic island aura with a modern twist. There are five en-suite bedrooms (one with direct pool access), with room for up to ten guests.
During the day, you'll spy the local hens that roam freely and the neighboring sheep might peek over the fence to steal a bite in the gardens. At night, gaze at stars while relaxing on the terrace or float in the pool with crickets making the only sound you hear.
THE CROATIAN ARCHIPELAGO
The largest of the Croatian islands, Krk is connected by a mile-long bridge to the mainland. The town of Krk is of historical interest for its 2,000-year-old walls, 13th-century Frankopan castle, 16th-century City Hall, and Krk Cathedral whose tower dominates the city sits.
Other sites on the island that are worth visiting include Biserujka cave, which is located on the northeast end of the island, the small island of Kosljun with its monastery and museum, the church and monastery in Glavotok on the western tip of the island, the clifftop towns of Omisalj and Vrbnik, and the small harbor Voz, which offers a panoramic view of Krk Bridge.
The villa's location is perfect for exploring this quiet region of the Croatian archipelago, with pristine beaches and green inland forests that are blessedly free from mass tourism.
