A Design Duo Reinvent a Villa above the Côte d'Azur
The home of a design duo from Amsterdam, this villa for rent in France has all of the sunny holiday ambiance of the French Riviera with a stylish and artistic pedigree.
After a long stint in fashion management, the owners switched their focus to real estate and interior design, settling in the south of France. They discovered this villa on a hill overlooking the countryside and set about transforming its provincial qualities with a quietly glamorous and creative makeover. The interiors combine contemporary aesthetics that flow from the couple's passion for art, interior design, and architecture, with an eye for texture, composition, and some earthy tones that add warmth.
One of the owners is a co-founder of the online art gallery humiio.com, and the home features a sharply curated selection of graphic art and photographs that coexist nicely with the minimalist designer furnishings. Read more about that in our Stories section here.
The ground floor includes the spacious main living and dining room overlooking the gardens and the fully equipped kitchen in addition to a secondary sitting room. There is an en-suite double bedroom with a deep soaking tub, with direct access to the terrace and pool for a refreshing dip right from your room, with three additional bedrooms on the second floor, two of which have private balconies overlooking lovely views of the hills.
The beautifully manicured gardens have several terraces including a shady covered terrace for dining al fresco around the pool.

A PICTURESQUE HILL TOWN ABOVE THE GLITTERING RIVIERA
A picturesque hill town located between Cannes and Nice, the village of Biot is a trek to get to but worth a day trip for its atmospheric old town with cobbled lanes, plazas, and the pretty Place aux Arcades.
Known for its heritage in glassmaking and ceramics, the town is home to the many art galleries, shops, and studios (La Verriere de Biot is the best) where you can see both historic and contemporary works. Grab a coffee at an outside table from one of the many cafes before a visit to the famed Fernand Léger Museum for a tour of his Cubist works.
Less than thirty minutes to the shore, there are plenty of glamorous beaches and beachclubs along the Cote d’Azur including owner favorite, Plage de la Jetée, La Spiaggia Plage, Cagnes sur Mer, Plage les Pêcheurs, the uber-exclusive Cap d’Antibes Beach Hotel, Plage Keller, Plage les Cabines, Golfe-Juan, trendy Plage Goéland, and of course the iconic Cannes Croisette.
