Sliding walls of windows, shaded passageways between stony walls, and dazzling vistas from every patio and terrace brightened by the reflection of a 9-meter infinity pool reflecting the glinting Aegean make this brut, nature-focused, architect-designed villa a true standout.
The creatives at 3H put Skiathos’ raw beauty on full display here, framing the untamed landscape with sharp lines and varying levels of stone, steel and slab, complemented by furnishings in earthen neutrals. One of a pair of residences on the lot, the villa's cool, easygoing interior mimics its interconnected outdoor spaces. The tranquil, open air interior reveals sleekly styled rooms that meld seamlessly one into another and draw the eyes outward, putting the island’s celebrated rugged scenery and its shining smooth sea at the forefront of the villa's design.
AROUND
On an unspoiled perch of two interconnecting villas, dense with trees sloping to the limpid waters of the Aegean, this villa features wild nature right out its doorstep. Set on the thickly wooded Greek island of Skiathos, an Aegean landmass packed with pine forests, millennial olive groves, archaeological ruins and chalky beaches backed by sun-bleached limestone, the low-key luxury space offers shaded and sun-drenched decks for unwinding, unplugging and soaking in the Greek sun. Skiathos is the love language of OHLIVE Villas property owners, one of whom grew up on the island, the other who can’t get enough of its rutted dirt roads, secret rocky shores and coves, or its lobster pasta!
Located in the Sporades archipelago in the northwest Aegean Sea, Skiathos is the smallest island in the chain known for its unique, forested interior vs. the arid, sunbaked island landscapes more typical of the Greek isles, Skiathos has more than 60 sandy beaches and frequently holds a leading spot on “best Greek island” lists. The island gained additional notoriety with the filming of Mamma Mia in its popular East coast town and harbor, where flower-filled alleys and small squares are home to shops and nightlife, plus restaurants, bars, and colorful cafes. Svelte yachts and funky fishing boats fill the town’s picturesque harbor. Yet part of what makes Ohlive villa special is its privileged location on a part of Skiathos Island that few tourists ever see, overlooking the spectacularly unspoiled bays of Kechria and the Pilion peninsula on the unpopulated western side of the island where the Mandraki natural reserve insulates the area from development. The region is home to some of the island’s most coveted beaches, including Elias, Mikro Aselinos, Ligaries, and Kechria, and hikers will also find their Eldorado on Skiathos, on trails leading up rocky slopes fragrant with wild mint, thyme and oregano, and ancient photo-ready ruins crumble.
