A Historic Paxos Island Home
Set within ancient olive groves and gardens high above the Ionian Sea, this vacation home for rent in Greece is a genuine traditional house transformed into an inviting getaway. We love outdoor living and this property's multiple terraces, poolside lounge, and play areas say summer to us!
Perched high on a craggy cliff with breathtaking views, this historic home is located on a quiet stretch of coastline on the small and lesser-traveled island of Paxos, in the hamlet of Boikatika.
The traditional feel of the old house constructed of rugged stone and wood has been preserved through the last two centuries, while the modern comforts make it home.
The interiors are warm and welcoming and designed with colorful originality and personal style. The ground floor is home to a fully-equipped country kitchen opening on two different dining areas and an outdoor kitchen gloriously facing the sea, a living room with a dining table, and a master bedroom with an open fireplace and a shower room.
Upstairs two bedrooms with a shower room are configured for two additional guests upon request. The first floor has independent access, a breakfast corner with a fridge, and a bright office area.
The property includes several lounging terraces and is populated by ancient olive trees and beautiful native gardens situated all around the house and the pool. A cozy pool house with a shower room pleasantly serves the solarium adjacent to the pool.
DISCOVER THE SMALLEST OF THE IONIAN CHAIN
The smallest of the Ionian Islands group, Paxos is a place of simple pleasures and stunning scenery. Just seven miles long and three miles wide, it's easily traversed and explored in its entirety.
After a 60-minute crossing by boat from Corfu, you'll disembark into the island's harbor capital town of Gaios. A typical whitewashed Greek town with seafront cafes, bars and shops, it has the remnants of Venetian architecture and tiny winding streets to browse.
The small fishing village of Loggos is located on the eastern side of the island not far from the third village of Lakka, each of which is quaint and small but lively, with tavernas that encircle the water and a few shops.
The island's rugged interior, pebble beaches, and lovely Erimitis Bay are worth the trek. With several islets in all in the chain that you will discover by boat, Antipaxos with its white sandy beaches and Corfu town are just a short hop and well worth the trip.
