A Church and Farmhouse of the 11th and 18th Centuries Become a Modern Country Estate
On organic farmland laced with olive groves and Sangiovese, Sagrantino and Merlot grapevines, lies a pastoral paradise, anchored by an ancient church and farmhouse. As it was found in an abandoned state, the new owners set about restoring both the buildings and the land, and turning the two structures into one villa that could be enjoyed by large groups of friends and families.
Today, the masterpiece of a villa has retained its bones, flaunting magnificent arches, brickwork and wood beams, with large windows where the light spills in and views reach the surrounding meadows and pasture filled with the diamonds of the kitchen (truffles, of course).
Entertain and relax outside, with a flowering pergola that leads to a grand 15 x 5.5 meter swimming pool.
This villa in Italy has eight bedrooms and six bathrooms in the farmhouse building, with five ensuite double bedroom, and one additional double room with a bathroom next to it. This building also has a second living room.
In the church, you'll find the main living spaces: a well-equipped kitchen, living room and dining room. There is also a large drawing room.
THE BASE OF MONTE TEZIO
The estate lies within a protected valley that lets nature thrive and a vibrant variety of wildlife roam free, and is a perfect starting point from which to lace your boots and hit the nearby trails. In fact, guided walks can be arranged with lunches pre-prepared. The estate also has a small private fishing lake, inhabited by wild carp.
Monte Subasio lies to the south, along with the enchanting hill towns of Assisi and Spello, while to the west, there is the 12-century castle of Antognolla. To your north, find the Appenine mountains, and the beautiful and protected Gola della Rossa e di Frasassi national park at their foothills.
On the estate, you can also go out foraging for culinary treasures with a truffle hunter and his trained dog, or take a vineyard tour, or do an olive oil tasting with extra virgin oil that was grown on the land.
