Located in the picturesque Marche region surrounded by panoramic views of the countryside, this vacation rental in Italy has been transformed from humble farm dwellings into a modern holiday retreat. Designed and conceived by a husband-and-wife team who escaped the chaotic city life of Milan, the property was in complete disrepair and took over five years to restore. Redefining the structures from both a functional and architectural point of view, the duo opted for a mix of styles between rural and contemporary while still preserving the spirit of the region.
Comprised of the main farmhouse, a chicken coop and a barn, each of the three structures has been rehabilitated with several eco-friendly architectural and technological solutions including photovoltaic panels, rain water collection tanks and LED lighting.
The large farmhouse has been converted into a B&B, while the tool shed was turned into two independent lofts (Tramonto and Alba), and the chicken coop has been reserved for the owners.
Using natural materials and colors aimed at preserving the harmony of the surroundings, the interiors were reimagined with clean lines, neutral colors, and finishes and calm minimalism. Both lofts are laid out with self-catering kitchens and living areas on the ground floor and a double mezzanine bedroom that sleeps two. There is room for two more on the sofa beds which is ideal when traveling with kids.
Each bedroom is oriented to enjoy either the sunrise or sunset over the countryside with views of the charming villages of Filottrano and Cingoli in the distance. The rambling grounds include grassy gardens and terraces with a massive pool that has received an international design award highlighting theiginal use of ceramic in construction. Ideal for those who want a rural escape far from the crowds, this is a relaxing and peaceful retreat.
