Under the Guidance of Andrew Trotter, a Puglian Lamia is Reborn
We’re big fans of the Moroseta family's collection of authentic Puglian homes. So when they recently asked us to add La Casetta, a former lamia in the middle of unspoiled nature and secular olive trees, it was an easy "yes."
A large garden replete with fruit trees surrounds the lamia, and you’ll enter from the courtyard circling an old “pozzo” (well). The home invites you right into its open plan living area, giving you ideas for colder nights with a chic little fireplace next to a sitting area. A rustic table that can seat up to eight sits in front of a bay window, and the light and bright rooms are enclosed by thick white walls that offer pleasant acoustics and a natural cooling system.
Venture outside (and you’ll probably be here often, given Puglia’s favorable climate) and see what the grounds have to offer: a swimming pool, several terraces, an outdoor fireplace and a hammock for languid afternoons spent reading, napping and generally adopting a gioia di vivere.
A compact villa in Italy with two bedrooms and two bathrooms and rendered in Trotter’s signature style of simple and stylish modernization with a light touch, it is furnished and detailed with every comfort of today considered.

EXPERIENCES
As an added extra, ask about booking a day trip on your hosts' Riva 51” Turbo Rosso, Margherita Moroseta II—a restored classic Italian motorboat from the 1990s. At 15 meters long, it can easily accommodate eight guests for swimming, sunbathing or just taking in the views, far away from the crowds. It leaves from Gallipoli in the morning, traveling along the west coast of Puglia for the afternoon. While on board, you'll dine on local produce, focaccia and chilled wine. If you'd like to linger on board for longer, book a two-day trip. The boat has two double cabins and two bathrooms. Additional services are available on request (fees apply), such as breakfast prepared by the Moroseta kitchen, chef experiences and wine pairings, yoga, personal trainer or massages.
AROUND
The masseria is located in the heart of Puglia, near the impossibly pretty white town of Ostuni. There are several beaches, such as Torre Guacetto, within easy reach, as well as the historic towns of Cisternino, Alberobello, Martina Franca, Lecce, and Polignano al Mare. The owners can help with restaurant bookings, visits to local workshops, and much more.
