The Fine Art of Getting Away from It All
This elegant country home, located just outside the Umbrian hill town of Todi, is owned by a London-based fine art dealer, whose presence is very much felt in the taste and style of its interiors. The ancient stone house has been thoroughly restored, creating a luxurious space with an eclectic mix of antique paintings and furnishings.
It's a home to get lost inside, with unexpected amenities such as a cinema, Turkish bath and Moroccan tea room. And on the outside, it is surrounded by a decadently expansive garden designed by acclaimed landscape artist Arabella Lennox-Boyd. With its sweeping lawns and rose-draped arches, the garden offers dramatic views of the Umbrian countryside, which can be taken in slowly from one of the stone terraces or from within the generously-sized infinity pool.
A year-round destination for lovers of the Italian countryside – and for those who appreciate complete silence, beautiful vistas, great food and sightseeing – this is an idyllic escape. Read an interview with the owner in our Stories section here.

This property sleeps up to 11 guests. There is a double drawing room with a dramatic double-height ceiling, a dining room with seating for up to 12 guests, an en-suite master bedroom with dressing room, three additional en-suite double bedrooms (1 double, 2 twins), a kitchen with larder, and a guest bathroom.
An additional basement apartment (ideal for staff, if needed) has two bedrooms, one bathroom, a living room and kitchenette.
ADDITIONAL FEATURES
The house has a gym, massage room, Turkish bath (with plunge pool), and spa. There is a cinema, a music system throughout, a Moroccan tea room, a bread/pizza oven, and barbecue. The infinity pool is 14m x 7m, and there are sun loungers, a changing room and bar nearby. Other garden amenities include a boules pit, a croquet lawn, and a badminton court.
The house is cleaned every day by two maids, and garden and pool maintenance is included. Breakfast preparation is included, and lunch and dinner can be prepared on request.
Additional services that are available include massages, tour guides, walking guides, and day trips.
AROUND
This villa for rent in Italy is located close to the town of Todi that sits on the banks of the River Tiber in Perugia, Umbria. With its medieval monuments and Gothic cathedral, the town's classic Italian piazza has made frequent appearances as a movie location.

The owner has some great suggestions for eateries in the area, and plenty of cultural recommendations as well. These include a visit to the piazza, Duomo and museum in Todi, antique shopping in the medieval town of Bevgana, and viewing the frescoes by Renaissance painter Benozzo Gozzoli at the Convent of San Fortunato in Montefalco.
Recommended events include productions at the extraordinary mini theater in the medieval town of Monte Castello di Vibio, as well as Spoleto Festival dei Due Mondi (Festival of the Two Worlds), an international celebration of music, art and culture held every year since 1958.
