This lovely vacation home rental in Portugal was once a fisherman's house. Like much of the old town of Olhão, it's Moorish in style, but it was recently given a sleek, contemporary makeover. We particularly love the rooftop terrace, with its lounge chairs and dipping pool - and spectacular views across the rooftops of the old town. 

An elegant white cube with a green shuttered doorway, this Moorish fisherman's house is located on a narrow street in the historical heart of Olhão and combines a traditional exterior with a cool contemporary interior.

We love the high ceilings, tall windows, white walls, polished floors, and the abundant use of wood panels in the kitchen and lining the interior staircase. Decor is simple with fun features like a decorative sea urchin sculpture and rough-hewn wooden footstools. This is a home made for relaxing, with its two outdoor spaces - a dining terrace plus a rooftop garden with lounge chairs, a dipping pool, an outdoor shower, as well as lovely views over the old town. 

The house sleeps four comfortably in two bedrooms (one with en-suite bathroom). In the living area, there are two sofa beds that offer flexibility for different sleeping configurations (or extra space for a small child). There is also a modern open-plan kitchen that opens onto the dining terrace. This is a beautiful vacation home rental in Portugal, perfect for a family or friends sharing.

OLHAO'S LIFE OF THE SEA

Olhão is the largest fishing port in the Algarve, and has great character. Its buildings are Moorish in style, and there is a beautiful long, paved promenade along the waterfront. 

Two market buildings sit side-by-side nearby, offering fish fresh from the sea, as well as local fruit and vegetables. There are also plenty of pavement cafes, perfect for hanging out and watching the marina.

The town is surrounded by ilhas, or sand-split island beaches (like Ilha da Culatra and Ilha da Armona) reached by ferry, and a marshy lagoon, the Reserva Natural da Ria Formosa, a conservation area for birds and marine life.

Cancellation Policy Firm
The guest will receive a refund if the booking is canceled at least 60 days before the time of check-in. If the guest cancels 30-60 days before the start of the stay, they will receive a 50% refund. If they cancel within 30 days of the start of the stay, no refund will be given. All refunds are subject to a credit card fee of up to 3.5%.
Notes High season, April til September: Only rented per week (bookings from Saturday till Saturday) No smoking There is an additional local tax that is a max of €10 per stay per person. There is an extra charge €50 for utilities /electricity usage. There is an extra charge €75 for cleaning    All linen and towels are provided (including beach towels). A set of 8 extra towels costs €25. A cot (size: 60×120) for children up to 3 years, feeding chair and baby bedding are available for €25 per week, on request . Maximum occupancy: 4 adults (persons). The sofa beds can be used to sleep max 2 extra children, or if the four guests would prefer not to share the queen-sized beds. Then there will be extra charged per person (20%) per sofabed per stay to cover the costs of the additional bedding/usage/utilities etc.

Access through the front door by a digital key pad. (We will share the code when you arrive)            The dates of your stay, stated at the end of the terms and conditions, cannot be changed without our prior written agreement.                       3. Maximum occupancy: 4 persons (adults) per stay (at an additional daily cost you may add max 2 children). The house and contents are left in good order, clean and without any damage beyond normal wear and tear. In case of damage you agree to reimburse the actual cost arising from special clean-up, missing items, repairs and replacements. Your responsibility is not limited to the damage deposit amount. The deposit has to be paid by bank transfer, the deposit will be refunded by bank transfer within 14 working days following your departure. Please provide us your IBAN and bankdetails for the transfer. After receiving the credit invoice for the deposit please sign this invoice and email it back to us for confirmation. 5.1 SEF registration (Foreign Police) We require legible copies of passports or ID’s of all guests before arrival. This can also be filled in on the form we send you for each individual guest. It is important that this is done legible.                     6. General conditions: We are responsible to make sure the property meets all normal standards of comfort and is clean when you arrive. Note however that this is an old house that has been renovated, and therefore is not equipped for the elderly and people with limited mobility. Also modern child safety features could not be implemented. • Whilst every effort is made to ensure that statements, descriptions and particulars of the house are accurate and that it will be available to you as arranged, we will not be liable if it does not meet your requirements. Prior to concluding this contract you must ensure that the property is entirely suitable for all members of your party. • Bed linen and towels are provided inclusive beach towels. • Bed linen and towels are provided inclusive beach towels. • During the rental period there is an additional charge to the rental cost of € 50,- per week for the use of electricity. Extra cleaning cost for health and safety due to Covid 19 requirements are an additional € 75- per week/ stay. Please let us know promptly if there are any electrical, mechanical, plumbing or other problems with the house. We will make sure to quickly solve any problem. • Please allow us to carry out any repairs which may appear urgent or necessary during your stay. (this also includes the weekly pool maintenances on Tuesdays & Fridays) You can not claim any indemnity or reduction in rent due to this. • We expect you to maintain and clean the property as meeting normal requirements at all times and prevent any problems for the neighbours (No noise, parties, loud music, meetings, over-occupancy etc...).                         Please do not modify in any way the house or the lay-out of the furniture. • We do not accept any responsibility for personal injury to occupants, loss off personal belongings, We expressly point out that all the facilities e.g. swimming pool, kitchen, terraces, stairs, etc, are to be used at your own risk. Children must be supervised by their parent(s) or caretaker(s). It is not allowed to smoke inside the house or outside on the terraces.                 • It is not allowed to bring animals/ pets into the house. • It is not allowed to sub-let the house to anybody else, even if you plan to do so free of charge. No outdoor footwear anywhere in the house except the entrance hall. Please bring Flip Flops or house shoes for indoor use. • Keep the outside/front door always closed. Olhão is a save place, but petty crime exists. Do not encourage it by leaving the outside /or front door open. • Glassware is not allowed on the terrace by the swimming pool, for safety reasons. There are plastic cups in the kitchen. • You must take a shower before using the pool, as to keep the water clean from sunbathing oil, body lotion, make-up, etc.                     • Food is not permitted in the bedrooms, in this climate, crawling and flying bugs must be discouraged at all times. • Luxury bed linen and a towel set of 5 towels per person (including a beach towel) are provided. Extra towels are available upon request. • Always use the appropriate towels (grey hamman) for the beach. The light green towels are only for sunbathing on the roof terrace. We have this rule because sunscreen stains! Therefor please make sure to cover all sun beds, lounge area mattresses with light green towels only, as stained white bath towels, pillow cases and sheets will have to be replaced, with the replacement costs coming from your deposit. 
 Replacement costs for linnen are starting from:
     • Duvet cover €60              • Large sheet.                     • Pillow case                       • Bedspread                         • Large towel(70×140)€ 20                    • Small towel €15                  • Terracecushion cover€35           7. Duration of stay: We expect you to leave on the date and time stipulated (as previously stated, the check-out time is 10h00 or 10am). Penalty and legal measures apply if this would not be the case.     At the end of your stay, please ensure that the house is in the same condition as you found it on arrival and that all items borrowed have been returned; in particular, the kitchen should be left clean and tidy, We expect dishes and glasses to be cleaned and put away, and bins to be empty and be properly deposed off If not we will charge € 30,- for extra cleaning costs (See in the app for the recycle/waste points : please recycle much as possible). Leftover food etc can be put on the kitchen top/ fridge and will be donated to the elderly in need., leftover food will be donated to needy elderly people. All wet or damp towels should be hanged up in the bathrooms and not left on beds or floor!                     8. Special requests: Must be made by email before your stay. Confirmation and any additional costs will be confirmed by email in return. 9. App: Feel free to download our free house app: The Digital Concierge. This app helps you to find our personal favourites for food&drinks, attractions and other useful information. The app does not require an internet connection after downloading, so you can use it in offline mode. We will sent the login code with the arrival form.
