A Full-Service Villa Between Mountain and Ocean in Cape Town’s Elite Camps Bay
With its private chef, housekeepers and groundskeepers, and on-call concierge to meet every need, this sleek waterfront retreat by award-winning global architects SAOTA was built in 2008 and offers an exclusive getaway along the Atlantic, filled with designer furnishings by Minotti, OKHA and Royal Botania and works by South African artists Dylan Lewis and Lionel Smit.
With seamless indoor-outdoor living by virtue of its glass-encased, stacked geometric volumes, the vast villa boasts floor-to-ceiling windows, natural skylights, and outdoor living spaces with inspiring garden and Atlantic views, with the crags of 12 Apostles Mountain rising behind it. Along with the Atlantic’s tides, the home offers Lion’s Head views, and is just a short stroll from beaches and a 10-minute drive to Cape Town’s city center.
SAOTA Architects held nothing back in its 2008 design, creating svelte lines, smooth sharp angles, and generous glass enclosures. Created for up to 14 guests, the villa has two open-plan indoor and outdoor entertainment areas, two guest kitchens and a professional chef’s kitchen, a pair of pools, and a gym with Technogym cardo and weight equipment, and a ping pong table.

Around
A short stroll from the beach and a 10-minute drive from Cape Town's city center, the villa is situated in the elite Camps Bay area, which draws upmarket Cape Town residents and visitors for its namesake beach, a sandy white stretch with natural rock pools. The popular beach is backed by the rugged, rocky Twelve Apostles mountains that rise sharply behind the house. Camps Bay is packed with posh waterfront restaurants and cocktail bars, and an action-packed promenade that’s the place to see and be seen. The Promenade Mall offers haute boutiques and hip independent galleries, and there are dozens of cafes, coffee houses, and tour outfitters all along the bay. European hipsters flock to the area in season, creating a youthful, buzzing scene, and the suburb curves along the Atlantic only about 15 minutes’ drive from Cape Town’s city center.
Hikers can head into the Twelve Apostles Range to explore deep ravines, jagged cliffs, and deep gorges. The Tranquility Cracks hike features five-meter-deep cracks near the landmark Corridor Ravine and Pipe Track trails. Cape Town itself is surrounded by sea, offering miles of sandy beaches to explore, both high-end retail and local curios, an urban dining and nightlife scene, and the wild Cape Point landscape.
