A Place of Calm, Connection and Quiet Beauty in the Laurentians
Caroline had a clear idea of what she wanted to build: a home where people actually gather, cook together, and stop moving. With Doug's Icelandic design sensibility alongside her own French-Canadian roots, she brought in Prim Haus architects to realize the structure and Kristiina Eljand Interiors to handle the material palette — kitchens and bathrooms where the choices are specific and considered. The result sits on five acres of forested land in Tremblant, Quebec, at an elevation that keeps the views wide and the nearest neighbor out of sight.
Inside, the register is wabi-sabi filtered through a Scandinavian eye: natural textures, restraint in the palette, and a 16-foot kitchen island anchored by Jenn-Air appliances and Smeg small appliances that make the room an argument for cooking rather than going out. Works by local artist Robert Ducharme hang throughout — available for purchase if something speaks to you. An antique chair in the bonus office occupies the window just right.
The home sleeps eight adults and two children across four bedrooms and four bathrooms. The master has a king bed with sweeping woodland views, a double vanity, walk-in shower, and freestanding tub. Three queen suites follow, one of which connects to a bunk room for children. Outside: a saltwater pool, seven-person hot tub, six-person sauna, Corten-steel fire pit, barbecue, and a dining terrace designed for the kind of evenings that run long.
The Laurentians shift character by season — ski resort in winter, river and trail country in summer, harvest light in autumn. Le P'tit Train du Nord, 234 kilometers of multi-use pathway, passes practically at the door. Mont-Tremblant is 15 minutes; Mont-Blanc, 25. This home is the base for all of it, or for none of it.
What we love
Five acres of Laurentian forest, and the house sits right in the middle of it. In summer you're hiking or paddling the river in the morning and back on the terrace with a drink by the afternoon. In winter, same thing but with skis and a sauna. There's a hot tub, a fire pit, five acres of trees. You don't really need to leave. But if you do, Mont-Tremblant is 15 minutes down the road, and the Le P'tit Train du Nord trail runs through the valley if you want something quieter. The owner is an artist at heart. There are paintings on the walls by a local guy called Robert Ducharme, and if you fall for them you can purchase and take them home.

Good to know
The road to the house is steep. In winter, snow tires and an all-wheel drive vehicle are strongly advisable. Alpine Rêverie is a self-catered home in a small town setting: on-demand services including cleaning and snow removal may have limited availability, and the fire pit and firewood are not always accessible in severe winter weather. The experience is designed for guests who value nature, privacy, and independence. It may not suit guests expecting the immediacy of city-based services.
Guests are asked to complete a check-in form after booking. Details are sent on reservation.
