Designer Romp in the Woods
Scandi-inspired and deliciously secluded, this tall, dark, and handsome cabin offers an indulgent escape in the woods. This cabin for rent in Wales is cloaked in green and curated with handcrafted and vintage items for a nostalgic touch, yet built with a sustainable eye on the future, creating minimal impact to its woodsy setting.
A boutique hotel-quality cabin in the woods, this designer getaway is secluded in the Welsh countryside and offers a cozy, yet decidedly modern ebony retreat bathed in a leafy green canopy. Created by Greta-Mae Interiors, a bespoke interior design studio, to be a woodland escape that doesn’t scrimp on creature comforts, the cabin is dark, sleek, and soothing, with a fully equipped kitchen, spa-cozy baths and an elevated terrace nestled into the verdant hillside where a sunken Jacuzzi holds court. Inspired by Iceland’s dramatic black timber and pitch houses, the cabin offers a window on the woods via the tall chalet windows that fill its triangular front façade. A sunken hot tub anchors the balcony, also set with a table and barbecue for an easy, no-need-to-leave-here vibe.
AROUND
Set in the heart of the countryside, this cabin for rent in Wales was created to be a hideaway for rest and relaxation. The Welsh woodlands offer a fairyland of forest life. Mushrooms, ferns, lichen and moss rise from the loam. Flowers and shrubs, such as wild rhododenrons, primroses, and wood anemones, bloom seasonally. And majestic gold oaks and leafy branching hazel shade the woods. The cabin has front row seats to a seasonal show of changing foliage, abundant bird life and the passage of small woodland animals.
The nearest town is a 20-minute walk away, and offers small shops, restaurants, and markets for convenience. The Mid-Wales region is known for its ancient woodlands, dark night skies, and pastoral-to-rugged beauty. The closest town of Llanfyllin is a rural market town, though it’s perhaps best known today for its arts center, The Workhouse, a restored 19th-century structure on six acres that today features a museum and hosts live music shows and festivals, art exhibits, and eco activities in its planned sensory garden. The town is flanked by two rivers, the dueling Cain and Abel waterways. Further afield, Lake Vyrnwy is worth a visit, a picturesque reservoir and waterfall surrounded by the gentle Berwyn Mountains that offers a series of footpaths for exploring. Wales’ largest national park, Snowdonia National Park, is also an easy drive from the cabin, with over 100 lakes, craggy glacial peaks and waterfall-filled gorges on display, and an extensive trail network.
