Beach Shack Styling on an Unspoiled Coastline
A cute trio of pool-front reed and thatch-roofed cabanas are set in the sand near artsy Comporta, with easy access to Portugal’s, wildest unspoiled coastline. Built in classic local style, with cheery facades of woven reed and peaked palm rooftops, the cabanas are striped with bright white bands that embellish as much as they support the structures. Sand-dusted boardwalks unify the cabin trio, crisscrossing the sand surrounding a shared lap pool, where comfy, boxy chaise loungers stretch out in the sun.

These villas for rent in Portugal outside Comporta, a gem along Portugal’s windswept coast, give off all the right barefoot, vacation vibes. Bright white and rattan filled interiors accented by beachy, basket shaded lamps and sea-glass-colored linens keep the interiors light and breezy. Simple and created for slow living, these cabanas are really all about the outdoors, set around a sweet lap pool in the sand.
One cabana holds the complex’s common areas—an open-plan kitchen and living/dining area with a powder room. There’s an outdoor shaded terrace for dining with pool views, too, plus a plump couch and armchairs for sitting indoors to spell the abundant sunshine. A second cabana holds a queen suite, with the third ideal for couples with children, with its double suite and single/trundle bedroom and bath. Together, the three cabins sleep and host six around the tables.
A long, lean lap pool joins the three structures at the middle, and feels like its own private beachfront, set in the sand, with wooden boardwalks and coastal grasses as the sole landscaping. Lounge chairs stretch out in the sun, and shaded terraces add to the beach shack styling.
AROUND
These villas for rent in Portugal are set outside the heart of in-vogue Comporta, where there are beaches and whitewashed slow-living-styled rural villages to explore, in addition to the artsy, fashion-forward boutique community occupying Comporta itself.
Celebrated for its raw natural beauty, this coastal area of Portugal’s Alentejo region was once the exclusive domain of a prestigious banking family, who kept the area essentially untouched and natural. Today, Comporta has become the darling of fashion designers and architects, who have capitalized on the area’s natural beauty without over-developing it.
Inland, wetlands hold rice paddies, and drier highlands are dotted with cork oak stands and orange groves and striped with vineyards. The nearby coastline is pristine, striking in its wide expanses of empty beaches and picturesque fishing villages. Historically a rural area with an agricultural focus, the region is referred to as Portugal’s breadbasket. In addition to abundant rice paddies, the countryside is covered in fields growing asparagus, wine grapes, and grains (wheat, rye, and oats).

We had a wonderful stay in the "Zebra" house. Everything was very clean, the furniture is uncomplicated and the kitchen very well equipped. The communication with Comporta Vacation Homes was very obliging and all requests were answered immediately. We always had the feeling of being well looked after. The walk to Pego Beach (path through agricultural land) as well as to the Sublime Club (sandy paths through the dunes) is about 20 minutes. We also enjoyed the time at the house and refreshed ourselves in the beautiful pool. Best - Claudia
Absolutely loved everything about this gem. I would definitely book it again. Everything we needed was provided and the host was very responsive to any questions we had.
