A Mallorcan Finca among the Citrus Trees and Sea Breeze

In the lifelong pursuit of finding a perfect vacation spot, Mallorca ranks pretty high. Here on this largest of the Balearic islands, paradise simply presents itself everywhere you look. One glimpse that recently caught our attention was Can Lluïssó, a gorgeous 287-square-meter finca on 22000 m2 of land, dotted with centenary Ullastre olive trees and a wide variety of plants.

Ten minutes drive from Porreres village, and 20 minutes to the beach, the home is a discreet and hidden treasure, with no vis à vis and an open campo view. The antique structure was entirely rebuilt in 2021 from antique and traditional stones, tiles, doors and windows. Uniquely designed and locally inspired, the redesign took cues from Balearic tradition and modern living, with curvaceous white walls, warmly polished floors, and a natural airiness throughout.

This vacation rental in Mallorca has five bedrooms and five bathrooms, accommodating up to eight guests. The bedrooms feature large beds and pillows and earthy colors, while two of the bathrooms have custom brass fittings and the en-suite master bathroom has its own fireplace and a Tadelakt bathtub.

Anticipating its position as a great home for families, opportunities to spread out and relax are also plentiful, from the hammocks area to the terraces to the pool.

Can Lluïssó is located on the southeast side of the island, a 30-minute drive to one of the most beautiful beaches Portocolom, Sananyí and Artà.

The lovely nearby town of Pollenca, a thirty-minute drive, is made up of winding lanes full of little boutiques and gift shops selling locally crafted goods around the Placa Major. Make a stop at the 18th-century Nostra Senyora Del Angels church with its stunning rose window and the Museum of Pollenca, with its collection of prehistoric sculptures and contemporary art. It also hosts the town’s celebrated classical music festival and the Pollenca Art Fair at the beginning of November.

Palma is a 45-minute drive and these days has become more like a mini Barcelona, with stylish bars, cafes, restaurants and shopping and the stunning Cathedral of Palma La Seu at its heart.

Don’t miss nearby Santa Catalina food market on Saturday afternoons with its “Tardeo” time that turns the streets into a big meeting point of people, food and fun. The old fisherman’s village of Portixol just outside of Palma has become the new hot spot to live, and is an ideal spot for a stroll at the beach and some tapas.
