Above the Gulf of St. Lawrence
We love a cottage by the sea, and this cabin rental in Nova Scotia is located in a place of spectacular beauty and privacy. Charming and full of character, it's a welcoming and comfortable retreat within minutes of the famous Cabot Trail and all the natural beauty of Cape Breton Island.
Above the Gulf of St. Lawrence
Perched on a cliff in complete seclusion overlooking the Gulf of St. Lawrence, this cabin rental in Nova Scotia is situated near the renowned Cabot Trail surrounded by over one hundred and thirty acres of wooded forest and windswept highlands. The traditional coastal design mimics the maritime architecture of the region with shingle and clapboard construction that maintains the historical Cape Breton style.
Designed and built by artists and native Canadians, the house was a labor of love that reflects their appreciation for the area, its culture, history and traditions.
Charming and comfortable, the open plan living space features vaulted beamed ceilings that lend it a bright and airy feel with a fully equipped kitchen and dining area for four all surrounded by windows for spectacular views. Decorated with both rustic and contemporary furnishings and decor, the house has a welcoming and homey feel with two cozy bedrooms that sleep up to four guests comfortably.
The outside of the cottage is just as stunning as the inside with a large exterior deck positioned perfectly to spot lobster boats, eagles, moose, bobcats, and whales passing by most of the year, and from where you'll catch dramatic sunsets and panoramic views. You can also fire up the grill for dining al fresco.
A world of natural beauty is at your doorstep, from the warm sands of Chimney Corner beach, to the world-renowned Margaree river (great for salmon and trout fishing) to a mature hardwood forest to explore.
Around
Located at the eastern end of Nova Scotia, Cape Breton Island lies along the Gulf of St. Lawrence where the famous Cabot Trail roadway encircles the island. Passing through rugged coastline and forests and along the edges of Cape Breton Highlands National Park, the road takes you through spectacular scenic beauty.
Less than 30 minutes north, the park has an extensive network of hiking trails including the Skyline Trail that overlooks the gulf, as well as dramatic waterfalls, rivers and highlands. Both the fabulous beach and bluffs of Whale Cove and the beaches and lighthouse of Margaree Harbor are within a few minutes drive, while the beach nearest the cottage is ideal for swimming in warm months.
Head south down the dramatically beautiful Broad Cove Road on the way to the town of Inverness, with it's great pubs and cafes as well as a local music and arts and crafts scene. With its mix of Celtic, Acadian and Native cultures, the island has a rich history and unique traditions with various music and cultural festivals throughout the year. A breeding ground for migratory whales, the area is also home to a diverse and abundant array of wildlife.

We had a wonderful stay at the Cape cottage. Stewart was a terrific host, extremely quick to respond both prior to and during our stay. The cottage is beautiful- thoughtfully designed and furnished, with a fully equipped and amply stocked kitchen. It is perfectly located- very close to great beaches and the entrance to the National Park.
Perfect place to rest and recharge! Our stay in Chimney Corner was exactly what we needed to unwind! The property was even more beautiful than pictured and we couldn’t wait to return every night for sunset. Many thanks to Stewart for all his suggestions and the excellent communication throughout! We hope to return next summer!
Magical Spot! We loved the Cape Cottage! The kitchen had everything needed to cook fresh seafood, comfortable beds, we felt all the coziness with plenty of space to unwind. The ocean gazing, Chimney Corner Beach down the road, whale and eagle viewing from the sitting area and lush forest to explore around the cottage was so special we cannot wait to return next year!

A stunning location, easily accessible to so many treasures- beautiful beaches with crystal clear water, well maintained hikes and trails, one-of-a-kind food shops with real character, music and more. We're excited to return and to send people we know to experience the beauty and bounty of Cape Breton.
