Waterfront Views between Lake and Sea

Nature definitely takes center stage at this Cassange Lake and beach property, a bright, breezy house built in Brazilian tropical style, on the scenic Maraú peninsula. It's a house that does double duty when it comes to waterfront living.

The home’s two independent suites are joined by a walkway that stretches across vivid green lawns on a tropical acre, connecting them to the house’s central common area that's outfitted with a sleek modern kitchen, living area, and guest bathroom. The sunny space is embraced by a 45-square-meter veranda you’ll be hard-pressed to leave, set as it is with a dining table, sofa and hammocks, all benefitting from big views of Cassange Lake. On the beach side, there’s a kiosk and outdoor shower in view of the palms.

Bedrooms are bright and simply furnished with a tropical twist, with suites opening out to the boardwalk via floor-to-ceiling sliders. One bedroom is a queen with a single bed, the other a king suite, and bathrooms are equipped with showers.

The Maraú Peninsula does not have sanitation, and the power grid can be unstable, but the home has an independent water treatment station and ecological septic system and generator to ensure power.

Viewed from the skies, the Maraú Peninsula is a whippet-like stretch of sand and water fringed with palm trees and long stretches of undulating beach both on the wildly rolling open sea and the tranquil, deep blue lake. Cassange Beach is semi-deserted, perfect for those seeking big nature and low-key living. Even though there isn't a village on the peninsula, there are some fabulous eateries within easy reach, some offering home delivery and all traditional Brazilian dishes.

The stretch of ocean beach immediately in front of the house has strong waves and currents, so hosts advise walking about 15 minutes to some beautiful natural pools such as Taipu de Fora, Algodões, and Saquaira, each stunning and safe for swimming. Cassange Lagoon’s waters are warm and easy, ideal for swimming or stand-up paddle boarding, and the site is famed for its vivid sunsets.

The house is located at the center of the Maraú Peninsula, about 20 minutes’ drive from Algodões and Taipu de Fora, and about 30 minutes from Barra Grande, a serene fishing village located on the tip of the peninsula surrounded by Atlantic rainforest and vibrant bromeliads and dozens of islets in its enormous bay.
