An Award-Winning Design Retreat in Mal País on Costa Rica’s Nicoya Peninsula
Tucked into nine acres of pristine jungle, Casa Brisas del Cabo feels both elevated and elemental—suspended between sky, sea, and forest. Winner of the 2019 Americas Property Award for Architecture, the structure—at once raw and refined—unfurls over a ridgeline, capturing uninterrupted views of the Pacific and the surrounding canopy. A continuous flow of space and air connects generous, light-filled interiors with expansive outdoor living terraces. Designed with intentional simplicity, the villa combines natural materials with an organic palette, and offers quiet corners for reflection alongside open spaces made for gathering.
Three air-conditioned, en-suite bedrooms each open to their own private lounge areas, perfect for a morning coffee or an afternoon read. Bathrooms are generously proportioned with double vanities and walk-in rain showers. Thoughtful design choices—like vaulted ceilings, local handcrafted finishes, and intuitive spatial flow—allow for both social connection and private retreat.
There is a kitchen with gas stove, refrigerator, microwave, grill, dishwasher and dining utensils. Indoor and outdoor dining areas include a custom table-tennis setup and lounge terraces for socializing. A thatched jungle rancho, perched above the treetops is perfect for sunrise yoga or sunset cocktails. Tropical garden paths teem with wildlife, from monkeys to toucans, with migrating humpbacks in the distance (binoculars provided).
Additional features
Fiber optic high-speed WiFi, ideal for working remotely or streaming. Private gated entrance with 4x4 access for complete seclusion and security. Concierge services to arrange private chefs, massages, yoga instructors, ATV rentals, or curated local tours.
Please note: Families are welcome, though the villa is best suited for older children due to its open architectural layout. A 4x4 or ATV is required to access the villa and explore the area.
If you're hosting a larger group or extended family, two independent guesthouses—Casita Silencio and Casita Tranquilo—can be booked separately and accommodate four adults and two children in total.
Around
The villa is located above the village of Mal País, just minutes from restaurants, surf shops, and cafés—yet completely secluded. Recommended activities include heading to nearby Santa Teresa, Playa Carmen or Playa Hermosa for surfing, swimming or sunset walks along golden sands. Hikers can visit the Cabo Blanco Natural Reserve, located just next door. Other activities include off-shore fishing, horseback riding, zip-lining, or stand-up paddle boarding—all of which can be easily arranged on request.
