A Cubist Four-Bedroom Villa by Pereira Miguel Arquitectos in Carvalhal, Comporta

Pereira Miguel Arquitectos (PM-ARQ) is a Lisbon-based studio founded in 2005 by Luís Pereira Miguel and Filipe Martins Correia, which has built several published houses in and around the Herdade da Comporta estate. Comporta’s residential vernacular has drifted, over the past two decades, toward a distinctive low-rise modernism: white volumes, broad overhangs, and large-format glazing that lets the rice-field and pine-forest landscape carry the interior. PM-ARQ’s Comporta houses sit within that tradition but with a tighter formal discipline.

Polished cement floors run through the whole home, their grey warmth contrasting with the white walls and the wood-toned furnishings. Floor-to-ceiling sliding glass windows flood the main living spaces with light. The two suite bedrooms each have an en-suite shower bathroom and a television, while two twin bedrooms share a third bathroom. There is air conditioning in all rooms.

The south-facing pool deck is the social center and shaded by the surrounding garden walls. An outdoor shower and loungers serve the pool. The living room opens directly onto the terrace through full-height sliding glass. Beyond the garden walls, the home looks onto pine forest. Seven bicycles are available for trips to Carvalhal or the beach.

This vacation home for rent in Carvalhal, Comporta, sleeps up to eight guests. The villa is arranged across one level. Four bedrooms include two suites with en-suite bathrooms (with showers) and televisions, and two twin rooms sharing a third bathroom. A single living area opens onto the pool deck via full-height sliding glass. The kitchen has an electric hob and oven, fridge and freezer, microwave, Delta coffee machine, dishwasher, and washing machine. Parking for one car is within the property walls.

Experiences

The hosts provide seven bicycles for independent exploration of Carvalhal and the surrounding beaches. The home carries private access rights to Brejos beach, 3km away.

Good to know

Daily housekeeping (one hour per day, except Sunday) and pool and garden maintenance are included. Bedroom and bathroom linen is changed weekly. Baby cot with linen and a highchair are available on request at no extra charge. There is no television in the twin bedrooms. Plasma screens are in the two suite bedrooms only. The property has mosquito nets on all sliding windows. Parking for one car is inside the property walls.

Casa da Paliçada sits in the Herdade da Comporta estate, between Carvalhal village and Praia do Pego, with Brejos beach 3km to the south. Carvalhal has a handful of cafés, a supermarket, and directly on the beach Restaurante Sal, one of the area’s most established seafood addresses. In Comporta village, 11km away, Cavalariça, a former horse stable converted by chef Bruno Contreras into a sharing-menu restaurant with Alentejo ingredients and an international sensibility, has been open since 2017 and is in the Michelin Guide. A car is useful but not essential for the first day. The bicycles cover Carvalhal and Pego on their own.
