An Eco-Nest among the Olives
Set in a producing centenary olive grove in Tarragona, this cool little Catalonian casa stands as a sleek urban-inspired studio space that’s big on rustic rural charms. The nest for two reveals wooden beams and twisting olive trunk vanities, exposed stone walls and a dedicated yoga deck, plus a private terrace with an outdoor rain shower.
Hideaway for Two in a Tarragona Olive Grove
Set up studio style, this sustainable retreat in the heart of Baix Ebre is tucked into an olive grove on a 300-hectare estate. The compact hideaway offers both mountain and Mediterranean panoramas and its minimal styling was designed for convenience, with creative botanical decorative touches and simple natural furnishings primarily in wood and stone softened by textiles and a subtle earthen palette.
Layout
Indoors, its open-plan layout incorporates a cozy lounge space with a wood-burning stove and terrace access, a fully equipped kitchen and dining space, and a bedroom nook with an en-suite bathroom.
Outdoors, there’s a private terrace, dining under the stars and a fire pit and barbecue grill among the olive trees, plus an outdoor shower and dedicated yoga deck for added relaxation.
Around
A great place to unplug and enjoy the region’s Mediterranean climate and landscape, this sweet studio stands within an estate that spans some 300 hectares. There are views that extend across the region’s mountains and all the way to the Mediterranean.
Located on Catalonia’s southern coastline, the Baix Ebre region is a hub for outdoor adventures, and has been celebrated as one of the world’s best sustainable tourism destinations. A land of dramatic green mountains, it is ideally suited for recreation on the trails of the Els Ports Natural Park, the bird-filled wetlands of the Delta de l’Ebre, sinuous roads and restored railroad beds such as the Val de Zafán Greenway for cycling, and both rivers and sea waters for canoeing and kayaking.
The Mediterranean coastline is lined with picturesque coves and beaches, and the crystalline waters are also backed by big dunes at l’Ametla de Mar, l’Ampolla, Deltebre and el Perelló. The region’s gastronomy spans mountain and sea, too, with rice from the Delta, freshly caught fresh and saltwater fish, mussels and oysters and local olive oils, charcuterie and wines.
Finally, villages worth visiting in the region include the regional capital of Tortosa, set right on the river bank with its Renaissance cathedral, L’Ambolla for its water and the seaside beauty, L’Ametlla de Mar with its stunning fortress walls and castle above the sea.
